When my friend was recieved into the Catholic Church he was given a copy of the CCC. He already had a Bible. As a gift though I gave him a prayer book which contained classic Catholic prayers, precepts, explanations, examination of conscience, novenas, etc. This was a good teaching tool too.

The Magnificat will send sample copies and a discount for those in RCIA.

Wow! Your students are lucky to get so many materials gifted to them. Your parish must have a big budget for RCIA.

At my parish in 2012 we were given a bible but not a Catechism, though we were encouraged to get one. I think it should be standard issue to all converts and I think the Catechism in general needs to be taught more. Its such a wonderful resource.

My wife went through RCIA in 2014 to 2015 and received both a CCC and Bible.

My parish does get a discount because we already bulk order Magnificat subscriptions for parishioners who would like to subscribe. So adding 10 or 15 more for RCIA isn’t too bad.
That sounds like it could get really expensive
It’s not too bad. We make it a priority, though.

Yes, we are fortunate that our parish has the ability to do so. That’s one of the benefits of being a larger parish.

Our parish gives all candidates and catechumens a copy of the Catechism, and there are hundreds of bibles on the shelves. Our parish has a library of thousands of books for common use.
