quite right and I swear he works at this parish

immediately after his conversion he preached in Damascus, when to Jerusalem and was introduced to the apostles there, but because there was a plot against his life, was sent to Tarsus his home. he was there for some time, and in Cyprus, presumbly studying and praying, because we don’t here of him again until Barnabas when to Tarsus to find him and bring him back to Antioch.

the apostles had a 3 year internship with Jesus Himself.

Those us in RCIA are not so fortunate in our teachers and have to make to with the poor pitiful humans chosen for the task of instructing us. To the extent that we, those teachers, submit ourselves in obedience to the Church and to the action of the Holy Spirit, despite our all too obvious failings, the Spirit will hand on, through us, what you need to hear. To the extent we rebel, try to run things our own way, fail to teach with, in and through the Church, things will, um, be, you know, uh messed up.

It works the other way, too. Despite the human frailty of your teachers, or maybe because of them, the more receptive you are to the action of the HOly Spirit, the more forgiving of the failures of your human teachers, and the more humble in receiving all that comes your way through this journey as useful to God in molding you and assisting your conversion, the more complete and productive this experience will be for you.

Don’t give up on RCIA. It’s not the class that really matters. What matters most is we are seeking to know God and learn the faith and become Catholic. It can be challenging. Becoming Catholic is a big commitment. *But it would be nice if RCIA was run the same way everywhere. *

Thanks to all who have replied!

I contacted the church where I was baptized, and they are sending me a letter this week, confirming the date of my baptism. I also spoke with my priest yesterday about the situation. He was super-cool and very understanding - so everything is cleared up!

Blessings to all who have (at one time or another) experienced red tape along the faith journey.

Thanks for sharing. I am on the RCIA team at my Parish, and I will certainly refer to your situation at some point in the future, I’m sure. It is in sharing with each other that we learn. Welcome home! May your Easter Vigil be a time of great joy! 😃
