no one here is competent to make any statement about the validity of your marriage, since your wife is or was Catholic. For that you both need to meet with the pastor and tell him about your personal circumstances. At the most, presuming neither of you has been married before, a simple rite of convalidation of the marriage will be performed sometime before your reception of the other sacraments.

I agree, we’ll need to take it up with a pastor here.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention, that neither of us were married before.

They may be recorded both places (though in the OP’s case, the marriage didn’t take place in a parish) but my understanding is that further sacraments are usually recorded where the person was baptized. That’s one reason people need copies of their baptismal certificates when they’re being confirmed, married, ordained, etc.

We had a situation recently where someone came for confirmation. It turned out she had already been confirmed but forgot…but it was on her baptismal certificate.

I should add a disclaimer that I’m not an expert on this and if someone says something different they’re probably right.

Sacraments subsequent to Baptism; i.e. Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders, are supposed to be recorded on the reverse of the original copy of the person’s Baptismal Certificate, which is kept in the Parish where the Baptism took place. Just call that Parish and ask for a current copy of the certificate. If your marriage is recorded, it was Sacramental. If not, it’s no big deal to have it blessed. Some people even make an event of it; have a party afterwards, etc.

At our parish the infants are required to attend with their very pregnant mothers. We haven’t figured out how to exclude them

When the child starts to cause a disruption, (like water breaking, etc. , our standing suggestion is for them to leave the room for the sake of the other learners . Fortunately, I’ve not seen that sort of disruption…
Where would the Baptist baptised Catholic have the records of their sacraments kept? I know my old Baptist church certainly wouldn’t keep them!

I guess the Catholic church would take your word that you were baptized since you would have a clear memory of it (and maybe ask for an affidavit from you and/or a witness?), then begin to keep your records in the parish you were confirmed in.

Did you know that Social Security accepts a baptismal certificate as proof of birth if no birth certificate was issued? I worked for them about 40 years ago and that was a situation that sometimes occurred.

In my our case, my wife was baptised Catholic, so her parish should have her records, I assume. For me, although I was raised attending Baptist churches, I wasn’t baptised until I became Lutheran, and I know they have records of it (and I also have a copy of my baptismal certificate)

I’m really not sure how the Baptist church records baptisms though, since I was never baptised there.
