Having done that…twice mind you…I’d like to share the problem that I had. BTW, I now realize that my “first” baptism in the Catholic Church 17 days after my birth was the real deal.

The first is an understanding of Original Sin. This is a doctrine wholy rejected by most of the Protestant world, particularly in the Evangelical set. The belief is that only faith expressed as an adult, and not the faith extended by our parents, is salvitic (sorry my spelling).

The limited view that saving faith is ONLY that of an adult (in some cases, it is accepted to be that of a small child of 7 or 8), is effective is not supported by Scripture. See scripturecatholic.com for excellent Biblical defense of the doctrine of Original Sin, infant baptism, and confirmation.

This comes to the probably cause that her friends, who are very godly and loving, espouse Sola Scriptura. Realization that that standpoint is in itself unscriptural was the start of my journey back to the Church.

A final point might be challenges on the mode of baptism, that is, baptism is only by immersion. They refer to the word “baptizo” as meaning ONLY to dip or immerse. They neglect more complete understanding of the context of the word in the NT, as well as even in the Bible itself.

Contact me off line and I’ll send you a LONG WINDED text on this. I lifted a lot from Patrick Vanderpool, a Catholic blogger that may or may not appeal to you. He is an ex-COC youth minister.

If she tries to go get re baptized all she will doing is taking a bath or washing her hair. She can do that at the house anytime surely.
