having children of the first marriage has nothing whatever to do with annulment, which is based only on the situation that pertained at the time of the marriage, not what happened after. still sounds like your son is not telling you everything (not that he is obliged to). If they are not married in the Church, by itself that is not a reason to DELAY, not deny Baptism, but it does give the priest the right to question their intent to raise the child Catholic. Just sending him to CCD does not cut it, in fact, having the child celebrate 1st communion when they do not intend to bring him to Mass when obliged makes the matter worse. The parents have to decide what religion they are following, they have to follow it, and they have to raise the children that way. They cannot have a “dual religion” if they wish to call themselves Catholic.OK -The facts are that they have been told the child (soon to be children) can not be baptised in the Catholic Church because they are not married in the eyes of the Church and they do not attend Mass regularly. Annulment has been explored, but with two children from the 1st marriage it is difficult to obtain.
