is it ok to miss mass if a relative is sick with a broken hip? My relative can’t be left alone and she is pretty much laid up for 8 weeks. Am I excused? I don’t have a van to take her with me.
taking care of someone who needs you is indeed valid reason to miss mass, you should not even think of taking her with you unless she wants to come and is able to travel and to assist at Mass. do for the well being of both of you look into respite care so you can get away some times during the week for errands, your own needs, Mass if possible.
You should ask a priest to be dispensed from your Mass obligation. Are you saying that you must be with this person every waking minute for 8 weeks without any breaks?
