Re Pets and Heaven

Hi. I have no idea at all where to post this kind of question i.e. do pets go to heaven, or some kind of heaven or some kind of spiritual afterlife? I know that there are numerous Scriptural references to it but nothing clear cut? In general, God loves His creatures, and so, loving them, provides for them, both here and in the hereafter. And pets are creatures. But that is as far as I can get. Is there an answer to this question of whether pets go to heaven as we know it? And if anyone knows what area of this forum for me to put this question on, I will go there.
 
Immediately upon posting this, I saw where similar threads were listed as having been posted in Back Fence and in Apologetics. I kind of lean towards Apologetics but will stay here until I hear otherwise. Not sure where to post it.
 
Thank you. My first inclination was Apologetics so I will take this there, not to ask the apologist but to the general Scripture side of it, as the truth of the matter will be found only in Scripture itself, I guess.
 
I hope my experience helps you a bit, I’m not Catholic but when I was a kid, my dog had to be put to sleep.

I was crying on our front porch, and a nun walked by (a real traditional looking nun, like on the Sound of Music, one of my favorite movies as a kid).

Anyway, she asked me why I was crying, and I told her. I then asked her, “Am I going to see my dog again in Heaven?”

She replied (I will never forget her words, they meant so much to me they are burned into my mind!), “In Heaven, ev eryone is supremely happy. If you need your dog to be with you in Heaven, God will make sure she is there”. 🙂

That seems to sound just like what the apologist replied in the thread above too!
