Read the Bible in a Year

Hi Everyone, šŸ‘‹

I was thinking about reading the Bible in a year for next year. I have never read the Bible in its entirety so I thought about following one of the reading plans. Have you ever followed one of these plans? Do you have a plan to recommend? Where in the Bible would you start reading?:confused: I know some people start from beginning to end and others skip around. Any help would be greatly appreciated. šŸ™‚

If you want to read it all straight through, I would recommend a good reading plan that breaks things up into easily digestible chunksā€“even some of the Old Testament material that is particularly difficult, like Deuteronomy, is manageable if read a couple chapters at a time.

One of the best ā€œread the Bible in a yearā€ plans Iā€™ve seen is this one: chnetwork.org/2012/08/free-resource-updated-version-of-our-read-the-bible-and-the-catechism-in-a-year-guide/ Iā€™ve been using it; I started trying to read the Bible (and the Catechism, which is also given in easily manageable bits, about 8 paragraphs a day) in a year, and that was like four years ago. But Iā€™m sure youā€™re probably more intrepid than I and can keep to it!

You can sign up below to read the Catechism or the Gospels daily. I read the Catechism emails for the Year of Faith and they were great. Another site that offers Bible study plans is biblestudytools.com.

Barnes and Nobles is an American bookstore. In addition to the other links that people provided you can read it here at the Vatican website. http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM

I would recommend the flock note emails as well that is free and is a great resource or the YouCat for a simpler version of the Catechism. Best of luck with your reading from the U.S. šŸ™‚
 
I have the ā€œOne Year Bible - Catholic Editionā€ ā€“ and it inc ludes the entire New Living translation with deuterocanonical books arranged in 365 daily readings. I read the day of the year before I turn out the light at night. Some of those Old Testament readings "raiseā€™ the hair on my head ā€“ I probably bought the Bible at a local Catholic book store (not sure) but I am glad I have it and read it every night.
 
The coming home network plan for reading the bible and catechism in a year is good. I also like the plan that takes into account the liturgical calendar to a degree. Its here. Also, thereā€™s a system of reading the bible, 10 chapters per day, that a gentleman named Professor Grant Horner developed. A kind sould here on the forum modified it at my request to the Catholic canon. I made bookmarks out of the 10 lists (you read 1 chapter from each list everyday).
