THis is a forum! A primarily Catholic forum! NOT A TROLL CAVE!

Please do not troll. It hurts us as Catholics, our Protestant brethren, and also those in other faiths, most notably Muslims. Moreover, if the thread you wish to post is aimed at asking “What to Protestants believe on this?”, better not to bother. You will just get a big useless discussion, possibly a flamewar. I quote a well known law:

“As a online disccussion on a controversial/fanboy topic grown loger, the probability of a post with a comparison based on Nazi’s or Hitler approaches one.”

This is all too true without trolling.

This is the Non-Catholic Religions Section, and this is where people play Tug-o-War, being that Catholic is at one end and Non-Catholic is at the other end of the rope, and naturally this being an Apologetics website in Defense of the Catholic faith, you know which side is basically winning.

Seems like LDS on the other end of the rope is loosing here, but it is basically just a discussion here about how other churches fit into peoples daily lives, and what they believe is the true church, and a tendency to do apologetics of their church here, so in a sense there is a tug-o-war going on with this.

Religions seem to be picked up and used as weapons against each other and that of course against the spirit.

Loosing yourself into the spirit, seems to me the opposite of getting caught up into the mechanics of the Religion, I find it hard to get the spirit even at all, while playing Tug-O-War here, but the places to learn more of the Catholic Faith is not here in the Non-Catholic section, but in the other parts, like Traditional Catholicism , Eastern Christianity, Liturgy and Sacraments, and Catholic Living, these are the places of learning, and not a tug-o-war.

You’re right, Geoff. But, some people learn better-faster if they’re arguing. I know I do. I’m very grateful that people here humor me with their thoughtful arguments, which help me to learn. One very important thing I’ve learned about arguing religion with an LDS is that I can’t approach it the same way I would a Protestant. That was a mistake I was making until I started learning more about LDS here. Because of my life situation, I’m a lot more likely to encounter LDS people than Fundamentalist people.

well Muslim posters would get a much more sympathetic reception if they didn’t post provocative things like claiming Catholics “pray to dead people” like Jedda here has, and persisting in this falsehood even when corrected several times

reciprocity is a concept that some people can’t seem to grasp

Jack,
Moslems don’t do reciprocity.

Moslems don’t do reciprocity
We know that there are some fanatical elements within Islam that aim to destroy us. That is not all of Islam, just elements within it.

I think we SHOULD be respectful towards all others including Moslems. That is not only our duty but the commandment of our Master Jn 15:17.

We need not fear extinction, our survival is guarranteed: we have Christ’s word for it 🙂 Mt 28:20

Perhaps you can tell me how we’re gonna sort 'em out? I seldom hear anything from the so-called “moderates.” All we hear is blather about “disrespect toward Islam”. I start hearing about some distancing and non-support of terror from the so-called “moderates”, then I will be a little more respectful of moslems.

There may be orcs* here; but there don’t seem to be any trolls about

  • o* = orthodox
  • r = roman
  • c = catholic

Jack,
Moslems don’t do reciprocity.

Nor do Christians (except when insulting others). “Love one another as I have loved you” does not contain any conditions - such as “provided they are nice, polite, fair, kind-hearted, truthful…” etc.

Jack,
Moslems don’t do reciprocity.
Neither do Mormons, especially when interacting with someone of my particular ethnicity.
Because of my life situation, I’m a lot more likely to encounter LDS people
I have recently moved, and am now highly unlikely to meet LDS people. 👍 There are a few of Mormon cultural heritage, but they can be gently corrected. 😉

I am happy.🙂
