Reading a book = sin?

Hi, I recently started reading this book, “Playboy to Priest”, and I am not sure if it would be considered a sin to continue reading it. In and of itself, I know it’s not a sin but for me (because of my past), it could be an occasion of sin depending on what exactly it talks about. Is consenting to reading it when you know it might/could be a near occasion of sin, a sin? Thanks.

Is this the book you are talking about? Why would you think it’s a sin? Just from the descsription, it sounds like an inspirational (sp?) book.

I like to read and hear conversion stories and how people found the Lord. Dont some of the Saints have same stories. I might read it myself.

As Bookcat said, you have to judge for yourself. Depending on your level of maturity and age, your firmness in your faith, you know the answer. Anything can be an occasion for sin – even a TV commercial. It’s how you let if affect you that should guide your decision. If you take it as a conversion to faith, then there’s no sin. If you focus on the author’s “childish things”, then you might want to avoid the book because you would not be using the book as the author intended. Only you know. Check the reviews too.
