Reading and studying the Catechism

I’m curious to hear from those of you who’ve read the CCC in its entirety- did you read it one page at a time, beginning to end? Topically? I’ve bounced around a lot in it, mostly reading as needed. But I want to make a go of really studying it through this year. I’ve got some other irons in the fire so I’m not looking to blaze through it, but any suggesting reading plans or ideas would be appreciated.
 
Reading 10 paragraphs per day would get you through in one year. 286 days, specifically.

I’ve read lot, but not all. It’s a treasure of the Church. That’s for sure.
 
I have read a fair bit of the CCC, but only a passage or a section at a time, as needed. I’ll look something up, and often one thing leads to another and I’ll keep reading for a while. I’ve never seriously considered reading the whole thing.

Come to think of it, I have lately been looking for reading material about Jesus, mostly books available at public libraries. I should also look up everything the CCC has on Jesus, which could be a lot.

Don’t read the CCC that much. When I do, it is mostly as references. I did follow Bishop Robert Barron (then still a priest) talk-series on the CCC. It was well presented to show the purpose and the scope of the CCC. He made it very interesting as he espoused on the CCC from angles which we do not think about. His explanation was also excellent.
 
I really liked Benedict’s series, but especially the first book. “To Know Christ Jesus” by Sheed was also good. And, while it may not be exactly what you’re looking for, “The Lord” by Guardini is in my top 3 favorite Catholic books.
 
That’s also usually how I end up reading it. I look one thing up and then it’s like falling down the rabbit hole. That’s kind of why I’m looking for something a little more structured.
 
I actually did a course on it so I read it through during the time I was doing that.

Try not to be frightened at the beginning. It gets easier as you go along.

I’d recommend possibly reading a section through to get the gist, and then go back paragraph by paragraph including the footnotes if possible.
 
I read it a few pages at a time, pencil in hand the whole time to underline/take notes. As @JamalChristophr said, reading just a bit at a time does take quite a while, but it’s really worth it. There’s much beauty and wisdom to be found there.
 
The section on prayer, one of the four parts, is very useful, I think. It’s my favorite part, I think. Then I like the section on the Eucharist very much, as well.
 
I currently have the mass-market paperback copy of the CCC I received during RCIA. My problem with it is the size- its awfully small and makes reading for a length of time a little difficult. Its also hard for me to mark it up or even have another book open with it because it doesn’t stay open on its own. Is there a physically larger edition out there?
 
A good idea. Any Baltimore Catechism prior to Vol 4 (incl) are an excellent reference for adults and teachers.
 
I have a big green one that can be acquired as hb or PB. It’s a perfect size. Look on Amazon.
