Reading Scripture to my kids

I read a chapter a day, and so have read the four Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles to my kids. They are a bit young for the Epistles. Last night I read the Book of Jonah.

Any suggestions which books to read next - I think Numbers and Leviticus will go right over their heads:D
 
The Letters of John seem to be fairly simple. They mostly speak of the commandment to love one’s neighbor.
 
I’ll check out the Johannie Epistles and Judith.

I’d prefer to read whole books rather than just passages, and I won;t use a children’s bible.
 
:thumbsup:FONT=“Comic Sans MS”] Thanks be to God that you are reading Holy Scriptures to your children! I recommend the same gospel as another has mentioned: John. Also, many of the Old Testament accounts are so good: David and Goliath, Daniel and the Lions Den, etc. One story that our daughters liked so much when they were small was about Balam and the Donkey (that talked). They are 30 and 23 now, and they still talk about that story with us! Might I suggest seeking out a Catholic or Christian bookstore, or shop online, for a good book which contains some of those stories written in a more succinct way for children to understand. There are many now, so I won’t suggest a specific one. Amazon is an excellent place to shop for one if you cannot make it to a shop, because they offer glimpses into the books.

Certainly, nothing substitutes for reading the Scriptures to your little ones, but to make the complex more understandable, a good children’s Bible story book can make it more accessible and that will help the Bible stories to become more familiar!
