Does reading the Bible count as prayer or is it more ‘‘Spiritual education’’?

I think reading the bible can be a form of prayer. It probably isn’t prayer if an atheist is reading the bible to find a verse to use to debunk something a Christian said, though God might use that opportunity. It is prayer, though, if one reads the bible to meditate upon the mysteries of God/Christ. So there can be a range of things.

For example, if you read a thing like “if today you hear his voice…” this just naturally leads you to listen and to raise your mind to God. That is prayer. Also, it is prayer to recite a psalm for/to God. There are many ways to pray with the bible, I think, anyway. It is a way to enter a conversation with God.

if you read scripture in the Catholic sense of lectio divina, divine reading, with an attitude and intention of prayer, than yes it is indeed one of the oldest forms of Christian prayer.
