Only God saves. Everything else (scripture, prayer, works of mercy, etc.) may be tools God provides for us to use to work out our salvation (sanctify), but only by the God’s Grace are we saved, thinking otherwise is Idolatry, it would seem to me.

Phil 2:12 - 2:13 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation. For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will.
You know you quoted my post but you didn’t read it… *sigh, I give up…🤷

What exactly is the Bible all about? 😉
If you follow what Jesus teaches, you will be saved. If you know all about the Bible, don’t be so sure you will be saved – for knowing is one thing, doing/following it is another.

All you have to do IS GET BORN AGAIN, there ain’t nothing in the
Bible about all this doing/following stuff.😃

I think the whole point of Manny post, is to show that, as long as the people had the Catholic Church, they didn’t need the Bible to be Saved.

God’s grace cannot save unless you have faith in the Gospel of Jesus. The Bible says, faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
grace saves not faith. The Bible disagrees with you.

Romans 3

24 Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption, that is in Christ Jesus,

Romans 4

5 But to him that worketh not, yet believeth in him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reputed to justice, according to the purpose of the grace of God.

Romans 4

16 Therefore is it of faith, that **according to grace **the promise might be firm to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

Romans 5

15 But not as the offence, so also the gift. For if by the offence of one, many died; much more the grace of God, and the gift,** by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ**, hath abounded unto many.

In reality, the Catholic Church was never without the Bible. On Pentecost, the Church already had the Old Testament. Then the Church had the teachings of the apostles which it compiled into the New Testament, which was read at Mass. There was never an absence of the Bible from the Church.

Yes I know that, I mean the common man
back in olden time, who couldn’t read,he could trust in the Church
to be Saved.

Romans 3

Yea… but read the very NEXT verse

Rom 3:25
Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Romans 4

5 But to him that worketh not, yet believeth in him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reputed to justice, according to the purpose of the grace of God.

No Manny, It’s by grace THROUGH FAITH.

Act 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Rom 3:30 Seeing [it is] one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Hbr 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hbr 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Hbr 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Hbr 11:28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

Hbr 11:33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought
righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

1Pe 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
