If a priest were to say Mass and there is a very small congregation and he does not have a server can he proclaim the readings himself at the altar for convenience purposes?
so if no reader is available the priest is allowed to read the readings like in the EF Mass but at the ambo?Only the Gospel is ‘proclaimed’, the readings are read/ Only the priest or deacon can proclain the Gospel, anyone can read the readings, including the priest.
In our church if there is no reader, the priest used to read the readings from the ambo.
The relevant sections of the GIRM provide:so if no reader is available the priest is allowed to read the readings like in the EF Mass but at the ambo?
