readings at Mass

If a priest were to say Mass and there is a very small congregation and he does not have a server can he proclaim the readings himself at the altar for convenience purposes?
 
I don’t have the GIRM in front of me, but I know that the priest-celebrant is allowed to proclaim the scriptures as a kind of a last resort. I’m also pretty sure that the scriptures musc be proclaimed from the ambo.

I’m sure that someone will post paragraphs from the appropriate documents to clarify.
 
Only the Gospel is ‘proclaimed’, the readings are read/ Only the priest or deacon can proclain the Gospel, anyone can read the readings, including the priest.

In our church if there is no reader, the priest used to read the readings from the ambo.

so if no reader is available the priest is allowed to read the readings like in the EF Mass but at the ambo?

The relevant sections of the GIRM provide:
58. In the celebration of the Mass with a congregation, the readings are always proclaimed from the ambo.
  1. By tradition, the function of proclaiming the readings is ministerial, not presidential. The readings, therefore, should be proclaimed by a lector, and the Gospel by a deacon or, in his absence, a priest other than the celebrant. If, however, a deacon or another priest is not present, the priest celebrant himself should read the Gospel. Further, if another suitable lector is also not present, then the priest celebrant should also proclaim the other readings.
    If there is no other suitable reader present, the priest may do the readings himself, but I don’t think many devotees of the EF would agree with your supposition that vernacular readings, facing the congregation from the ambo, are very much “like in the EF.” And it would certainly be an abuse the the priest actively tried to prevent any other suitable reader’s being present just so that he could monopolize the readings for himself.
 
From the 2002 General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) approved for the USA, which can be accessed from romanrite.com/girm.html :

“260. The readings should whenever possible be proclaimed from the ambo or a lectern.”

This is from the section with the heading “MASS AT WHICH ONLY ONE MINISTER PARTICIPATES”.
