3 Nephi 20:8: “And he said unto them: He that eateth this bread eateth of my body to his soul; and he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of my blood to his soul; and his soul shall never hunger nor thirst, but shall be filled.”
Even though the Book of Mormon seems to include the doctrine of the Real Presence clearly found in the New Testament, Mormons see the bread and water they use in their sacrament as only symbolic of the body and blood of Christ. Mormons originally used real wine in their sacrament, but switched to water late in the 19th century.
One of the signs the Mormons have a false religion is their denial of the Real Presence of Christ in the Lord’s Supper. That something so clearly taught in the New Testament, by the Early Church Fathers and even by their own Book of Mormon is denied shows they simply were following the tradition they found in 19th century Protestantism as it was taught on the American frontier.
