I was delighted to learn that the Nativity account in the gospels is a Real Presence picture.Hello Everyone!
A Protestant friend of mine asked me about The Real Presence of the Eucharist.
Now, I understand it. I believe it. But I CANNOT explain it. I either make it sound very symbolic or cannibalistic.
So, I would like to ask if anyone had any answers or methods of explaining Real Presence.
Thanks in advance.![]()
When the baby Jesus was born, He was wrapped in swaddling clothes, so that He was wrapped up like a cadaver!
And then He was laid in a manger, a feeding trough!
So, the story is a picture of the actual body of Jesus, after His sacrifice, being served as food!
To avoid the implication affirming the Catholic doctrine of the Real Presence, some Protestant Bible commentators have suggested that “manger” refers to the BUILDING, not the feeding trough.
What these commentators forget is that all of these things occurred in Bethlehem, Hebrew meaning “House of Bread.” I.e., not only are we being told that this baby came to have his actual sacrificed body served as food, but it would occur in the “House of Bread,” where He would presumably be served in the form of bread.
I’m satisfied that the story is a picture of the Real Presence.
