That is some chant I can really get into. I love chant, don’t speak Latin, but love being able to understand chant. That’s a tough combination most of the time. I hope to see more and more of this.

Simple English Propers. These are very well done.

There are others, and many of the hymnals for the 3rd edition of the Roman Missal have chants (though most use standard notation). I have Fr Weber’s Office Of Compline, which has both English and Latin.

Also, Solemes just put out an English translation. It looks like it’s only available in Europe.

And St Meinrad has been very active in Gregorian chant in English, particularly Fr Columba Kelly. Check out the St Meinrad Kyriale. Six Mass settings.

Chant is making a return in the Latin Church. Still in the grassroots stages as folks form a Garage Schola here and there in parishes across the land, but there’s more chant in my area now than say two or three years ago.

Me too. In the first one, which I actually sent you in an e-mail earlier, I like it because I pray Compline every night and to hear those familiar words in chant in my own language was just awesome. Plus, I was totally unexpecting it when I clicked on the link to their website. I had to stop it and start it again because I could hardly believe what I was hearing.

The one you just commented on is every bit as lovely, but I sort of knew what was coming so the “WOW” factor was down a bit…

I find the organ accompaniment and voice beautiful without the English.

Without subtitles or captions, I have no idea what they’re singing. But that’s me. I’m not good with song lyrics.
