Hi, i’m really in need of prayers right now 😦 my faith has been under almost constant attack for several days. I don’t really know what’s happening and I feel like I’m losing my faith, not in God, but in Catholicism. I’m not giving up though… I converted to the Catholic Church and ever since the beginning I feel like the devil has been trying to get me to turn back… but at the moment, I can’t figure out if it’s the devil, or God. I don’t know how to discern and I don’t know what the truth is… and whether all these doubts are from God trying to change my mind, or from the enemy. Please pray for me 😦 I’m really struggling… I feel so much fear that I’ll go to hell just for being Catholic, because that’s what the devil has been trying to make me feel from day one. It ceased over the summer, but now all the doubts are back. I don’t know how to get out of it… I really need God’s help. I don’t think this is anything psychological cause nothing like this ever happens to me, it seems like something spiritual.

I need God to show me the truth and to take away all the confusion that I’m feeling. But let His will be done…

thank you soo much… God bless

Jesus, you established the Catholic Church so Monica could receive your very Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist and could receive nourishment, strength, peace, and abundant blessings from receiving supernatural grace in the Sacraments. Please help her to know that her temptations are coming solely from the devil and not from You in the least. You are permitting her to suffer, yes - but only so her faith will be strengthened in the end. Please get her to talk with her Pastor about her fears so he can assure her that she is just being tempted by Satan who doesn’t want us children to be saved by Holy Mother Church. May Monica keep praying, keep going to Mass as frequently as possible, and talk with her Pastor about her temptations so they never make her worry too much or so they don’t ever put her in any danger of falling away from the greatest blessing she has in her life - her Catholic Faith. This Faith leads us to You and keeps us pure and strong for the day of judgement. May none of us ever lose it, but constantly nurture it with prayer and the Sacraments and keep it strong, alive and effective. Bless Monica and ease her fears. She’s frightened and needs the assurance from You that you are not causing these temptations, but only allowing them for her purification - to help deepen her faith. Please help her to see she is just being tried and is being purified to make her faith stronger in the end. If she perseveres with faith in You, she will come out of all of this with an even stronger faith. Please help her to persevere and endure. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Short Responsory

God is my helper and I will put my trust in him.
– God is my helper and I will put my trust in him.
He is my refuge and my liberator.
– God is my helper and I will put my trust in him.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– God is my helper and I will put my trust in him.

Praying for you Monica…will pray for your Faith and for Peace…

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel, Defend us in the day of battle; Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, Cast into hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

ACT OF FAITH
O my God, who are infallible Truth and can neither deceive nor be deceived, I firmly believe all that you have revealed and propose to my belief though your holy Church, because you have revealed it. I believe that you are one in nature and three in Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that you are the Creator of all things and that you reward the just for all eternity in heaven and punish the wicked for all eternity in hell. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God made man, that he suffered and died for my sins and rose from the dead in glory, and that it is only in him through the Holy Spirit that eternal life is given to us . I believe in all that your holy Church believes. I thank you for having called me to the true faith, and I propose that with the help of your grace I will live and die in this holy faith. Amen.

HAIL HOLY QUEEN

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning, and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

(V) Pray for us O holy Mother of God. (R) That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Amen.

Monica, you echo the words of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton as she struggled to convert to the Catholic Church! 🙂 I looked up some of her words for you. The language was a tad different then so I hope you understand what she is saying. In [brackets] are my clarification. These are the actual words from her letters.

“Every day to visit * my Savior there [at the Catholic Church] and pour out my soul before Him is the supreme desire. But oh! Antonio [the man who was instrumental in her conversion], my most dear brother, should I ever dare to bring there a doubtful, distracted mind, a confusion of fears and hesitations, trembling before God in anguish and terror lest it should offend Him whom only it desires to please?..my soul is at stake, and the dear ones of my soul [her 5 children] must partake my error in going or staying [she is not sure whether protestantism or catholicism is the right faith]”

Here is how Elizabeth resolved her plight after months of indecision.

In a letter to Antonio’s wife: “Now they [her protestant family] tell me: take care, I am a mother and [for] my children I must answer in judgment, whatever faith I lead them to…That being so—* I will go peaceably and firmly to the Catholic church* [her emphasis] for if Faith is so important to our salvation, I will seek it where true Faith first began, seek it among those who received it from God Himself [the apostles]. The controversies on it I am quite incapable of deciding; and as the strictest Protestant allows salvation to a good Catholic, to the Catholics I will go and try to be a good one. May God accept my intention, and pity me…”

[She then said], "…come then my little ones, we will go to judgment together, and present Our Lord His own words [referring to : you Peter are my rock and upon my rock I will build My Church]; and if He says, "you fools, I did not mean that, " we will say, “since You said You would always even to the end of ages, be with this Church you built with Your Blood-- if You ever left it [and now reside with the Protestant church], it is YOUR WORD [her emphasis] which misled us. Therefore, please to pardon Your poor fools for Your own word’s sake.”

Sorry so long Monica, but I thought in your anguish it would be nice to know someone in heaven who also had anguish about conversion and finally resolved the issue and then became the first American born Saint! 🙂 You are not alone!*

Thank you SO much for your prayers everyone!!!

I can’t really believe it, lol, but I have an update! (already! praise God!)

For several days I’ve been struggling with this almost non stop… the only break was yesterday when I prayed the Rosary and Mary helped me. Today, when I wrote this message, I was almost giving up, but I didn’t want to give up… I’m so glad I posted here and I really appreciate all your prayers… because 5 minutes later, as I was walking to the bus, it suddenly came to me that my doubts were coming from distrust. I not only doubted if I’m in the right church, but also in God’s mercy, I thought “if I made the wrong choice, God will never pardon me, and I’ll go to hell for sure, there’s no hope for me, it’s now or never to decide, etc…” wow.

Then, while waiting for the bus, (and looking at the sunset, lol, it reminded me of God) - I made the decision to try trusting Jesus with everything. When I decided this, I felt He was helping me… at first it was hard to take that step, but then it was easier and easier. Then I said the words from the Divine Mercy devotion: “Jesus I trust in You”. And this is amazing, but right away all that confusion in my mind, all the fear, etc, left me! I think this was for the first time in days that I’ve actually felt peace.

And now I’m just holding on to that trust, and whenever I feel doubtful or afraid again, I just think “Jesus I trust in You”. And it goes away.

😃

Thank you for taking that time to pray for me, it really helped, and I see now that God doesn’t scare us into following the truth… He lead me to the Church very gently, even though I was on the wrong path before.

God bless you 🙂
