I’m sure you would all like some cheese to go with the whine.

Water does not, I believe, break the fast.
Right.

I often encourage those homebound with a swallowing problem to take a drink of water before receiving; some need a drink of water with the host.

Yeah that is really weird, I have been going to a CC for 46 years of my life and hadnt seen that one yet.
.

When my son-in-law was received into the Church the Easter Vigil was about 31/2 hours long because the parish is very large and they had a large number of catechumans and candidates. There was a break, but the Pastor had the congregation process around the church and dip their hands into the Baptismal pool and make the Sign of the Cross. Hymns were sung during this time. I had never seen this before, but I confess I was glad to stand up and move around as we were packed in like sardines, there were many people standing and they were packed, and the vestibule was full. It seemed to me that the entire parish had shown up for the Vigil!

Please, let’s try to remember that this is the Mass, not a theatrical production. The theater critics can leave their note pads and pencils at the door.
Doctor shouldn’t feel bad about an espresso bar in the courtyard. The coffee and donuts are at the counter outside the chapel after every Mass on Sunday at my parish.

your missing it. after is great. how about during.

I expect that they’re still serving coffee and donuts when the next Mass begins. There isn’t that much time between Masses.

Matthew

PS The other week the Knights of Columbus had a pancake breakfast going at the same location. I’m sure people from the first Mass were still eating when the next Mass began.

okay this was really weird I went to a new church this easter I went to the vigil mass on saturday I did not know it till the last minute. well there was literally an intermission where the priest stopped the mass and invitied the congregation to get some water and strech there legs. he sat at the back of the church for 5 minutes and had a good time talking to someone who was there. then came back in and started the service like it was a prefectly natural thing to do. I thought we were in a theater seeing the show.
Awsome Iam going to give this sugg.to my church thanks a lot

what an terribly tragic thing to say. perhaps ignorant is a better word. we spend a few pages pointing out how it is against church teaching and you decided to further the practice.

okay you are missing it. we are not talking about some people eating while the mass is going on. we are talking about the mass being stopped so the eating can begin and then the mass starting back up “now that everyone is refreshed.”
