I like to share my Catholic faith to others. I don’t want to turn this into debate, but rather share why I remain a Catholic.
  1. Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
  2. Diverence Rites. We have 23 Rites, One Latin Rite, and 22 Eastern Rites ranging from Antiochean Churches, Alexandrian, Coptic, etc.
  3. Communion of Saints. We pray in union with the saints in heaven and as well as saints suffering to God.

My reason for remaining Catholic are modern day miracles, such as Our Lady of Fatima. I just haven’t seen enough to convince me that this is a hoax.

And I think the Papacy office is a fulfillment of prophecy given in Isaiah 22:22… although I acknowledge there is no official church teaching on this matter.

Before I came back to the Faith I reasoned it all out and logic showed me it was be a Catholic. . . or an athiest. Since I had already reasoned the proofs for the existence of God, before I had even read St Thomas Aquinas or Peter Kreeft, I knew I had to be a Catholic.

Consider this a mind-expanding challenge:
  1. Many other churches believe this aswell…
  2. What’s the point of having multiple “rites” when they are not unified in the faith?
  3. Same as #1…
I can appreciate your reasons, but perhaps you would like to expand a little…i.e. theology, lives of the saints, etc.

Prayers and petitions,
Alexius:cool:

The reason i remain catholic, well all the reasons given, as well as many other things!
But mainly, the more i do research on other religions, the more i want to become a catholic!
Id rather believe in Jesus than some person who claims to have spoken to angels etc…
I like it when Jesus speaks to my heart, i know he is there, and its beautiful…

For me,
  1. Real Presence
  2. Confession
  3. Concept of Suffering tied to Salvation (no one spells it out as well)
  4. Doctors of the Church
  5. History

Because this the church started by Christ Jesus, entrusted to Peter the rock, on which the Gate of Hell will not prevail. Been handed on to successions of apostles ever since.

There is no contest really. Anything else are just poor imitations with no copyright!

Alexius, I think your response is void of the line of history which the church holds alone. No other church that believes these things has the line of bishops in union with Rome or in union with the apostles and Jesus himself, other than the Roman Catholic Church. Therefore if it is not plugged in to the One who ordained the first bishops, there is no power. It would be like holding a plug 2 centimeters from the socket and claiming you have the power, yet it is evident that you do not.
Plug in! 🙂

The Eucharist:thumbsup:

The more I read scripture, the more solid I become in the faith.

History. Ya can’t go wrong with a Church that has been here since 33A.D.👍

The organization. Being 1 big family with different jobs. Jesus never wanted us to be seperated. He wanted us to be a big family. Hence the Catholic Church. It just makes so much sense with me.

I’d be a catholic too if there is some way to verify that jesus is reaaally in the ‘Real Presence’. 😃

It’s** faith that requires **this belief (of the Real Presence). Much like those who never seen Jesus face to face in his glorified body.

Void in the line of history? I think not. There is certainly the Eastern churches who share a great deal with the West and trace themselves back to the Apostles…

Wow, you are staying in a religion for 3 reasons that are completely unbiblical!

its those kinds of comments that made me question the bible itself. in short woke up to the realization that the bible itself is unbibilical. 😃

You force me to defend my faith and so I will, and this is the last time too.
  1. Real Presence:
The Jews knew that He was speaking literally. Jn 6:52 “How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?” On other occasions when our Lord spoke of Himself as a Jn 10:9 “door” or a Jn 15:1 “vine,” nobody said, “How can this man be made of wood?” or “How can this man be a plant?” They recognized these as metaphors. But when Jesus insisted, Jn 6:53 “Unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of man and drink His Blood, you have no life in you; he who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life.” The Jews who heard this said, Jn 6:60 “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” They remembered God’s command to Noah and all mankind, Gn 9:4 “Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.” God spoke more forcefully to His chosen people. Lv 17:10 “I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.” It was only after Christ’s redemptive sacrifice and the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment that the Apostles saw the full meaning of our Father’s next words. Lv 17:11"For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life." In the Old Covenant our Father in heaven had commanded His children not to eat the blood of animals because we are not to participate in the life of animals. Animals, having no immortal souls, are lower than man in the order of created nature. However, in the New and Everlasting Covenant we consume the Blood of Christ to participate in Christ’s eternal life.

The three Gospel narratives of the Last Supper are absolutely consistent. Matthew: 26:26 “This is My Body.” 26:27 “This is My Blood…” Mark: 14:22 “This is My Body.” 14:24 “This is My Blood…” Luke: 22:19 “This is My Body.” 22:20 “This … is the New Covenant in My Blood.” Jesus’ next words instituted the Catholic priesthood: Lk 22:19 “Do this in remembrance of Me.”

St. Paul added, 1 Cor 11:29 “For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the Body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.” If we receive the Holy Eucharist without acknowledging, at least in our hearts, that it is His true Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, we send ourselves to hell.

In the beginning God had said of marriage, Gen 2:24 “Therefore a man … cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Jesus assured us, Jn 6:56 “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” God prepared us first through natural marriage and then through the Holy Eucharist for the supernatural marriage to come at the end of time, Rev 20:7 “For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride [the Church] has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed in … the righteous deeds of the saints.” The Holy Eucharist, through which Christ abides in us and we in Him, will be our wedding feast. Rev 19:9 "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.

True - it is only because of the Oral Tradition that we know that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, meaning that if you reject the Oral Tradition, then logically, you also have to reject the Bible.

Which leaves two possible authorities: yourself, or the Church.

  1. Differences in Liturgical Rites. I like to start that the Antiochean Church are Christian Churches found in Antioch. Tradition had it that Peter founded the Church there. The Church in Alexandria is founded by Mark, the Apostle.
These Churches are very ancient, and many of there Divine Liturgy date back to one of the Apostle like the Liturgy of Mark. We also have Churches in India founded by one of the Apostle, Thomas.

I would like to list them all, but instead I shall link them. These Churches are founded by the Apostles.

Communion of Saints: To some up communion of Saints. I shall use a few words. We are One Family in Christ in Heaven and on Earth.
Eph. 3:14-15- we are all one family (“Catholic”) in heaven and on earth, united together, as children of the Father, through Jesus Christ. Our brothers and sisters who have gone to heaven before us are not a different family. We are one and the same family. This is why, in the Apostles Creed, we profess a belief in the “communion of saints.” There cannot be a “communion” if there is no union. Loving beings, whether on earth or in heaven, are concerned for other beings, and this concern is reflected spiritually through prayers for one another.
Eph. 1:22-23; 5:23-32; Col. 1:18,24 - this family is in Jesus Christ, the head of the body, which is the Church.
1 Cor. 12:12,27; Rom. 12:5; Col. 3:15; Eph. 4:4 - we are the members of the one body of Christ, supernaturally linked together by our partaking of the Eucharist.
Rom. 8:35-39 - therefore, death does not separate the family of God and the love of Christ. We are still united with each other, even beyond death.
Matt. 17:3; Mark 9:4; Luke 9:30 - Jesus converses with “deceased” Moses and Elijah. They are more alive than the saints on earth.
Matt. 22:32; Mark 12:27; Luke 20:38 - God is the God of the living not the dead. The living on earth and in heaven are one family.
Luke 15:7,10 – if the angels and saints experience joy in heaven over our repentance, then they are still connected to us and are aware of our behavior.
John 15:1-6 - Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. The good branches are not cut off at death. They are alive in heaven.
Heb. 12:1 - we are surrounded by a great glory cloud (shekinah) of witnesses, our family in heaven. We are not separated. The “cloud of witnesses” (nephos marturon) refers to a great amphitheatre with the arena for the runners (us on earth), and many tiers of seats occupied by the saints (in heaven) rising up like a cloud. The “martures” are not mere spectators (“theatai”), but testifiers (witnesses) who testify from their own experience to God’s promises and cheer us on in our race to heaven. They are no less than our family in heaven.
Unbiblical. I don’t think so. We are very Biblical.
