Reasons why I should become Catholic?

You are switching subjects. Did you not read that “Now He is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live to Him.”
It should also be noted that the first-century Christians–including Jesus and the apostles–effectively considered these seven books canonical. They quoted from the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures that contained these seven books. More importantly, the deuterocanonicals are clearly alluded to in the New Testament.

Paul mentions this in 1 Corinthians 3:13-15: “Each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work, which any man has built on the foundation, survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”

To worship in places like this…?

Ya because Jesus was all about fancy
Not fancy…but beautiful. God was very specific on how He wanted the Ark of the Covenant built. With beauty. Just as the world with it’s seas, lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, sky with the sun, moon and stars etc are so very beautiful.

To Bootsy:
Why are you afraid to research our factual evidence about the Catholic Church to see if we’re really right?.. yes, us Catholics who’ve been posting already know the answer, but if you think you’re so sure you know the answers, prove it! If you don’t want to, it just means you’re afraid to try. What’s really holding you back from forgiving those “mean” priests and Bishops? What relationship did you have or still have with your “priest relatives”?..do you look at your relatives that are priests the same way you look back at those “mean” priest & Bishop??

Google doesn’t count- anyone can post stuff tailored to whatever a person searches. You can dive deeper than that. There are still layers within the depth of your soul to sort out~ be patient with yourself, God, and others.

Good question- I was just reviewing previous posts & noticed that too. Bootsy’ previous posts do signify ignorance about the Catholic Church’s teachings… so is it possible that Bootsy deleted those posts afterwards to withdraw from further commenting?? Dear Bootsy- are you up for the challenge to try defending yourself from what all you’ve shared with us, what you’ve hopefully researched (open-mindedly & honestly), and coming to conclusion with us truthfully?

You have already mentioned that the Catholic Faith is the oldest form of Christianity that has stood the test of time. Jesus founded one Church. He said that he would be with us until the end of time and that the gates of Hell would not prevail.
A good reason to become Catholic would be to save your soul from the fire of Hell.

I hope she didn’t get banned. I can’t find her at all.

Nonetheless, continued prayers go out to all on this forum. Wherever life takes each of us, may we strive to put God at the center of our lives selflessly to enrich not just our own souls, but the souls of those around us too and in doing so embrace each present moment as it comes with Jesus & Mary’s presence in everything, peacefully and joyfully. 🙂

@Horizon87

You have stated a few reservations about becoming Catholic, none really faith related. I hope you will explore more along the faith lines. What’s true, is true, is true. I pray you do not settle for less. 🙏

Come home.

Hello, this is Bootsy on my friend’s account. Yes, it it appears my account is deleted & I am no longer able to access this site. Just want to apologize to anyone who was offended by anything I posted. Didn’t think my beliefs would cause me to be shut off from this site, but so it is. We are fortunate to live in a country that we Christians can have these faith discussions. In some countries this is not so. As Christians, we should love others, even when we disagree. I think of Jesus who when dying, said “Father, forgive them they know not what they do” His infinite mercy shows up…as soldiers gambled for his clothes, criminals on the crosses near him reviling him, crowds blaspheming him and yet others mocking Him. He said…forgive them they know not what they do Some then, did believe…one of the 2 thiefs Luke 23:39-43, a member of the Sanhedrin, John 19:39, the Roman guard, Mark15:39. Forgiveness for all who would believe Matt 20:28… Unmatched mercy and love of Jesus…what a beautiful thing!! Peace and blessing to all on this web page as you search to know the real Jesus.

Thanks for your response.

I think the problem is your posts attacking what you think the Catholic church teaches. You made a lot of accusations that you were not able to substantiate. You may not realize it, but that’s the way you came off. This is against Forum rules. CAF has rules about attacking clergy as well.

This is a Catholic site after all.

I have tried to join some Baptists Forums and was not allowed due to my being Catholic.

All of us here welcome respectful and charitable discussion. Respond to posts without more rants. No attacks.

I am sorry that you view a disagreement as a “rant” or “attack”. Also, it is not what I “think” the Catholic Church teaches, it is what I know they teach…as I have gone to a Catholic school my whole life…including a Catholic college. For the record, I did not attack clergy, Inonly stated facts. Peace to you.

AWESOME; Brings back very fond memories; OH! How I miss the piety.

Thank you,
Patick

Can you recall specific quotes from the Catholic schools & college you attended of specific examples that you found disagreements with or misunderstandings within Catholic teachings? In some ways, it appears that you too are finding disagreement not just with us of course, but with the Catholic Church that you find also a way of an ‘attack’ against you for some reason- like an underlying message. Know that us here are not trying to bash you, but simply to find common ground & most importantly support the Catholic Church that we believe, since of course we are all discussing Catholic topics on a Catholic forum.

Your posts have all been deleted.

You said Catholics think they are save by works. WRONG. You said priests think they can do whatever they want. (Some people, including some priests think that, true). Doesn’t make it Catholic doctrine.

When you spend paragraphs dissing our faith, that comes off as a rant. Why don’t you point by point address all the responses given to you rather than going off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the replies? That’s a rant.

Support your arguments.

The problem was the way you disagree. You didn’t address the subject instead you attacked the person. Stating such things as they think they are God. You also called them poor things. This is a very poor way of discussion and indeed was a rant. I too have had a Catholic education. Much of what you said goes against what I was taught. You might consider that either you misunderstood or just was plainly taught wrong. Read the catechism to update your knowledge.

Sadly, many Catholic institutions no longer teach Truth. At my own alma mater, St. Louis University, there is an LGBTQ club. Pro-life signs are ripped down. For Lent one year, a crucifix was adorned with a rainbow flag. The basketball coach publicly supported abortion and was not asked to step down.
