Reassurance or correction needed re: Office of Readings

Hello,
as I’ve made an effort to pray more of the Liturgy of the Hours and to do it consistently one of the trickiest things has been finding a way to fit the Office of Readings into my schedule. I often try to pray it with Morning Prayer/Lauds but that can be really hard when I’m running late.

I seem to recall that it can be “anticipated” the night before, praying it before Compline of the previous day. This is sometimes easier for me since I’m usually up really late anyway (hence the lateness the next morning 😊 ). Am I mistaken or am I remembering right?

Any advice on this or other fitting-prayer-with-one’s-schedule topics appreciated. 🙂
 
I’ve got a copy of Christian Prayer and it says (p. 34)

General Principles

“The Office of Readings may be recited at any hour of the day, even during the night hours of the previous day, after Evening Prayer has been said (no. 59).”

Such anticipation was only necessary in prior times when Matins (as the OOR was known then) had to come before Lauds, was was also very lengthy. Currently, you can pray it at any time, so anticipation is not necessary.

May I suggest praying it before Vespers? That fits well also with the concept of a liturgical day when we have First Vespers for Sundays and solemnities e.g. Saturday’s OOR is then completed before Sunday’s Vespers begin.
 
Thanks for the advice! The OOR with Vespers might be the way to go, though I admit feeling a *tiny bit *bad about not doing it at a more traditional time of day. But if the church says I can pray it at any hour, then no reason for me to feel bad, huh? 🙂
