So the rosary that I’ve been using is one that was my father’s when he was in the seminary. So my question is, should I just assume that it has been blessed, or should I ask my parish priest to bless it? Would it be terribly wrong if it was blessed twice?

Thanks,
Nicole

I don’t think it would be a problem, but you could always ask the priest to be sure 🙂

No problem having a Rosary (or any other sacramental) re-blessed. I do it all the time. Especially when I alter or change something-like repair a Rosary. Repaint a statue.

Especially if you every ~purchase~ a Sacramental (buy for instance a box of jewelry at an auction, or a Rosary from a store, or a Stations of the Cross from eBay)—when purchased, the blessing is lost, and the article should be re-blessed.

Any Sacramentals that are being disposed (thrown out), should be cut up (broken up), or burned to where you cannot recognize what they originally were. <-This should NEVER be done with a first class relic (body part of a saint).

When in question? Drop them off at your local Catholic Church, with a note of what and why-for proper disposal. (Says I.) There are some people (me included) who restore and repair many of these old sacramentals, and find new homes for them.
