Rebuttals against pro-abortionists

I am a former devout Catholic
Devout? Really? I guess it could be true. What do you consider a devout Catholic? I ask this because many Cafeteria Catholics, like Pelosi and other left wingers who favor abortion, consider themselves “devout”. Is that what you consider devout, a person who does whatever he wants whether it be against Catholic Teaching or not and yet claims to be Catholic?

Your response is very good. The rape victim is a victim. Victims don’t always make good decisions. Deciding to abort a pregnancy that was the result of that raped compounds the victim hood and increasing guilt which doesn’t help with healing. Support of pregnant rape victims, “treating them like princesses,” was always a suggestion that came up. As a good Catholic Christian helping them should come to mind immediately.

The ends do not justify the means.
Disagree. God was very happy to sacrifice his son for our sins in a grand gesture despite the fact he has demonstrated he can prevent the transmission of original sin any time he likes when he instigated the immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary.

Clearly the ends do justify the means, even when more efficient less bloody options are on the table.
Suppose you could save the whole world by killing one innocent human being, would you do it?
Without hesitation. I’d do all the other numbers you suggested as well. I wouldn’t even feel the slightest pang of guilt about it.

…I’m sorry, is this the part where I’m supposed to fall to my knees in tears? I can either let one person suffer moral evil, or an entire planet…Hrrm. Yep, that’s really not a difficult decision at all. Someones going to have a bad time whatever I do, but I can prevent more people suffering the same.
All horrific evils are justified in these ways.
Wheras you on the other hand would sit by and let millions die purely because you’re too squeamish.
“For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
The only hell is the one we live in now.

And whether she kills her child(ren) or not, she still suffered the injustice. Abortion actually compounds the suffering, because not only have they suffered being raped, but they will also suffer the emotional and psychological consequences of killing their own child(ren).
Have you actually been raped Josh? How can you know? Have you actually asked a collection of women from different backgrounds their experiences of this or are you just going by what LifeMarch speakers carefully selected for their Orthodoxy have said on the subject if that?

I do on the other hand know what it’s like to be raped and let me tell you, while it’s biologically impossible for me to have children I’d feel a hell of a lot worse having to sling around my rapists flesh and fluids inside me for any longer than was required.

But of course, hey, what does any of that matter? The rapist can just hop in a confessional for five minutes and everythings fine. The victim on the other hand gets a lifetime of commitment thrust upon them even. Even if they give the child up for adoption, they could come looking for them once they reach the age of majority (they’re legally obligated the right to know who their birth parents are) and they’re still bound physically to their rapist in the child.

Quite. But it can prevent further lifelong damage.

I don’t think even the most hardened Pro-Choice advocates are suggesting abortion isn’t cause of suffering, what it does however do is prevent even more of it in the long term; both physically and emotionally.

The mother herself. The parents of the mother, particularly if the mother is a young child herself; like I asked Joe how do you think you would feel if your 10 year old girl got raped by an elderly man; would you be happy to watch her carry that to term? I know it makes a gruesome image but this is a scenario many parents have faced, and we can’t focus solely on the “abortion is being used as birth control” side, if that phenomenon does indeed happen.

It is far worse to murder a child then to carry to term.
For some it is worse to watch their daughter suffer as an incubator to the spawn of her rapist. It’s funny how the blame for an abortion always falls on the womans head as a murderess isn’t it? And not the man who planted the seed against her will there in the first place.

What are some rebuttals that I could use against pro-abortionists? Specifically for the rape case?
I’m of a mind that if I could ACTUALLY get a law passed that outlawed abortion except for rape and incest, I’d totally sign it.
It would save over 98% of the unborn.

I totally see your point. But on the flip side, that daughter can absolutely have it arranged where when she delivers that baby, hospital staff will carry it away and she’ll never see it again.

“Abortion as birth control” happens daily. It is very common.

We all have to bear our crosses. Rape is not the fault of the child. But are you for abortion in general or just in these very rare cases?

Murders of adults are common and happen daily in this country. We could excuse it as population control under the terms of that logic, but some don’t seem to put two and two together.

My point was NOT to say that because it was commonly used as birth control it was okay, a good thing or acceptable. I was responding to someone who seemed to think the use of abortion as a form of birth control is rare.

I agree about the tie between abortion and murder as equally wrong tools in population control.

My apologies to you for the post. Perhaps those that do think that way will still benefit.

God bless

Bit late responding but here we go.

She actually cannot. Legally the social services in both the US and most of Europe are obligated to inform the child on the age of majority who their mother is and direct them towards them if able.

There really is no escape from the legacy they were left with.

I don’t vote on this matter. I would be more supportive of abortion in the cases of rape, incest…this will be unpopular; AND for severe cognitive/genetic disabilities such as Down Syndrome.

However, I see trying to rule in favor of these alone as futile for one reason. When countries have tried this, what tends to happen is two things.
  1. The number of rape accusations dramatically increases. Many false accusations are made in the vain hope of obtaining one of these illicit abortions. Though better modern DNA testing could help in this regard it may still happen, after all they’re presumably going to test the fetus after the abortion when the woman has already got what she wanted.
  2. Illegal backstreet abortions. Anywhere abortion is illegal enjoys a booming black market in this field. A woman who really wants an abortion is going to get one if we like it or not, or as is more common with the under majority girls they tend to more often simply kill themselves. I’m for drug legalisation for a similar reason; I don’t like weed but I’d rather have it done in plain sight, safely and carefully administered than a criminal ring holding monopolies over it.
