Receive Precious Blood only?

I went to a Mass where both the Communion host and the Precious Blood were available. Someone did not receive the host but went directly to the line for the Precious Blood. The priest told her that she had to receive the Host if she wanted to receive the Blood. She did. Was the priest right? If so, could anyone cite a reference?

Perhaps the person has celiac disease which is an allergy to gluten in wheat. It can vary in its intensity and for some sufferers even a small amount of gluten can cause problems. If that were the case it would have been good to approach the priest before Mass and inform him of the situation, especially if it was not her home parish. Persons suffering from this disease are allowed to recive the Eucharist under the form of the Precious Blood only

Seems to me that since the entirety of Christ’s Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity is present in both the bread and wine that it should make no difference whether one recieves one or both…No matter whic “one” it is…

Some receive only the host, whether the Precious Blood is available or not…What is the difference?

You are absolutely correct. It makes no difference which one you receive or both.

WRONG!!!

Anyone can receive either or both if both are offered. If a person is algeric to Gluten they can request the Precious Blood, even if it is not normally offered to the laity. If the Precious Blood is normally offered to the laity, they need not do anything special.
