Received Communion whilst experiencing doubt; can you help?

Sparked by what appears to be Jesus misleading his brothers in John 7, I have been experiencing doubt in the divinity of Jesus. Now I know to receive communion one is supposed to believe it is the Body and Blood of Christ. However I also know that the church requires its faithful to receive communion during Easter. So on Easter I went and said Amen and received communion even though I had doubts it was the Body and Blood of Christ since I was doubting Jesus’ very divinity. Have I done the wrong thing?

What do you care–if you don’t believe? Or could it be that you have jumped to some conclusions that you are not entirely sure of, as in the case of suggesting that Truth personified would ever mislead anybody? In John 7 the disciples didn’t know what Jesus knew and so their take on the matter was flawed.

Although, the requirement is often called the “Easter duty,” it must be observed once during the year, but not necessarily at Easter time. See, you are making decisions about the faith without really knowing it. Go slow and ask us questions. This is what we are here for. Get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Talk to a priest before forming opinions on central teachings of the Church. Actually, I would have told you not to receive. I do encourage you to pray and spend time before the tabernacle . Talk to the Lord you are not sure of and ask Him to help you. I KNOW He will. I will speak to Him on your behalf as well. And I ask those who read this to pray as well.
