Received Spiritual Communion instead of sacramental communion in a First Friday, did it count for the Devotion?

Hello there,
I went to Mass to receive Holy Communion today, as part of the First Friday Devotion. However, as soon as I got to church I found out that, for some reason related to that specific parish, they were not having any masses on that day. Since it was already too late to go to any other mass in my area, and there was no church at a walkable distance from me, and I don’t own a car, I went and prayed an act to have Spiritual Communion instead. I did it for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ. Did my Spiritual Communion count as part of the First Friday Devotion or would I have to start again and have Sacramental Communion all nine First Fridays for it to be valid?

Thanks,
And GodBless.

Because you fully intended to receive Holy Communion, and through no fault of your own the church was suddenly not having Mass, the Lord will understand that you did the best you could. If you could pray some extra prayers to the Sacred Heart also, that would be nice.

The same thing happened to me on the 9th First Friday when I was trying to make them for the first time in many years a few years ago. I went to Mass in the evening, only to find that because of the weather they had cancelled the Mass, which I hadn’t been expecting. It was too late to go to Mass anyplace else by that time, plus it’s likely all the area churches had cancelled their Masses even if I had tried to go earlier. So I did a Spiritual Communion and a Holy Hour in my home instead.

Why not just go to Mass and Communion on Saturday and of course you will on Sunday. This counts for Friday if you could not get to Mass. Remember this is a private devotion, there are no strict rules , we have time to get to confession and mass and communion if we cannot do so on Friday.
