Receiving ashes required?

Hello. I was curious if it was a sin to miss receiving the ashes on ash Wednesday. I would have liked to, but I just couldn’t get to church yesterday.

Ash Wedensday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, so I’d think it’s not a sin if you didn’t go to church to recieve the ashes

Nope, definitely not required. Ashes are simply a sacramental.

No, not a sin. I’m sorry you weren’t able to be at Mass and ashes, but you did not commit a sin by not doing so.
