Amen. We need to understand our Faith. Let truth reign.Yet would you give false witness by reception of the Catholic Eucharist, thus implying that you share the same belief as we do, when in fact you do not?
I know I would never do such a thing in an n-C service for that very reason. There is no symbolic presence or mere memorial in authentic Christian (meaning Catholic) communion and there never was for the first 1500 years of Christian history.
The discussion is moot in that the Church has definitively taught that we may not take n-C communion. There are very very limited and conditional exceptions to the circumstances when a properly disposed n-C might receive, as mentioned in Ecclesia de Eucharistia but we are not in a position here to make those discernments.
Thank you, Tantumergo. I have come across this question time and time again by people who refuse to listen to the Church’s teaching, and instead believe falsely that they are just being amiable when they contemplate participating in non-Catholic communion with their protestant friends.Again, Luv, I am curious. Your original question asked if the Church taught anything **in writing **about Catholics receiving a communion at Protestant non-Catholic Churches.
You were answered with the relevant passages (in writing) where the Church taught that no, Catholics may not receive protestant communion.
But instead of addressing what the Church teaches, why, the history, etc., you just blithely ignore the teaching, present your own opinion which contradicts that teaching and in fact claim your opinion as the ‘real truth’ (with of course the presumption then that the Church teaching is false, as two opposing teachings cannot both be true.) But you never give any authority or rationale to explain why you have determined the teaching to be false. You simply throw out your sentences as “truth” and expect us to jettison God’s Church in favor of the ‘opinion’ of Luvtosew. . .![]()
Jesus would say, “He that is not with us is against us,” and He would overturn the tables in their marketplace of pick-and-choose theology.True, but they are our brothers in Christ, Christian brothers, and well if their Church has open communion personally I see no issue with it. I wonder what Jesus would say on this matter.![]()
