Hi,
I have a friend in RCIA and we talked about him having received the Holy Spirit, but vaguely recall thinking the Holy Spirit comes at Confirmation… at least on my own Confirmation gift it shows a sign of the Holy Spirit. Why is that?
Will my friend who has only received Baptism in another “church” / ecclesial community receive the Holy Spirit for the first time or Confirm that he has received the Holy Spirit?
I thought the oil and maybe even the Holy Spirit came with Confirmation… Please help me process.
Thank you,
Brian

"What does the Sacred Chrism symbolize?
The Sacred Chrism, or oil, is a sign of the gift of the Holy Spirit being given to the newly baptized. It is also a sign of the close link between the mission of Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, who comes to the recipient with the Father in Baptism." - usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/who-we-teach/rite-of-christian-initiation-of-adults/index.cfm
