I too suggest practicing. I read lots of tips when preparing for first Communion, but have found that receiving every Sunday was the thing that helped me to feel comfortable. I was very nervous the first few times, that I would do it “wrong” or that the person would touch my mouth or drop the Host. But after doing it over and over without any slip ups, I now feel totally comfortable and don’t worry about it at all.
I regularly receive from Deacons, Priests, and EMHCs, and haven’t had any problems yet (I’ve been Catholic since November). There have been one or two times when the EMHC/priest/deacon looked a little awkward for a split second, but I think this is just because a large majority in my parish receive in the hand, so they has to take a second to “regroup” and do something different after doing the same motion over and over.
I do think our EMHCs are well trained!
You will be fine, don’t overthink it!
