Thank you.
Point taken.
However, it does not claim receipt of one species less efficacious than receiving both.

If a person receives only in one form rather than both, does it really matter?
If a priest chooses to offer Communion in one form only, does that really matter either?

No, it doesn’t, as Cor_ad_Cor seems to claim. And I agree…I’m just not so bold to say because no one has said otherwise here, that NO ONE believes that.

About half the time I recieve both. We are usually toward the front of the church. If I have a cold or even a sniffle or the person in front of me does I usually pass on the precious blood.

In the US, I’d say both forms are availalble maybe 3/4 of the time. When both forms are available, I will usually receive both forms. In a few cases I will only receive the Host, for example
  • when the line is too confusing for me to make it over to where the cup is being given easily without impeding people or bumping them
  • when the priest is giving the Precious Blood by intinction only and I didn’t notice that before I held out my hand to receive in the hand so he only gave me the Body
  • when they run out of Precious Blood before I get up there
  • when I have a cold or a cough and don’t want to pass it on or give the appearance of passing it on even if I know I’m not contagious

When there is only one priest we usually receive only the Boody of Christ. If it is a solemnity of some kind we might receive the Body and Blood by intinction. My old parish priest came from a tradition where intinction was common so every single time we received by intinction when there was no deacon or a second priest present.

If our deacon or a second priest is present then we will receive both the Body and Blood of Christ. On Sundays we always have both kinds and there might be one or two EMHC assisting with the chalice.
