Why ask why?

Is your church hardwired for internet access or are parishioners required to use their own wireless devices?

Re: Tom Delay is Going Dancing
.
And all this is listed BECAUSE???

I accept CITH and EMHC are allowed by the Church at this time. My conscience will not allow me to receive CITH, but I don’t believe one can be said to be sinning by receiving in the hand. I don’t believe it’s fair to look at EMHC in a bad light either.

.
Why should your conscience be binding on anyone else? I would be hugely disapointed if i was forced to go back to receiving Communion on the Tongue. I was never comfortable with it and recall as an altar boy the slobberng, bad breath and rotting teeth we had to put up with while the Priest gave communion. Now you may find this the heigth of respect-i find it nauseating. The good news is that the Church allows us to do it either way.

It might be interesting to note that kneeling from after the Agnus Dei until the Great Amen is an INDULT in the United States. I guess, according to the logic presented by some people here, we don’t have to kneel during that time because an indult does not indicate an approval of that practice. So like most of the churches in Europe, we should start standing through all of the EP except for the words of Institiution. And also we should stand during the communion procession because kneeling during that time is also an indult here in the US.

Well, that’s one deficit it remedies, I suppose. Any others?

[Note: as an altar boy you wouldn’t be offering the Host yourself, just holding the paten, though? I think altar boys can have other functions, if one didn’t lke to do that, like thurifer or holding a candle?]

Doesn’t look to me like it’s approved. More like tolerated. It started as an act of disobedience, a break with standard practice. I would be very dubious about anything liturgical coming out of Holland, Belgium or Austria right now. Those countries are known for ‘experimentation’ and I don’t like being a lab rat in something so important. The Mass shouldn’t be a tinker-toy.

CITH was banned for hundreds of years. At a time of ferment in the wider society and in the Church itself, it was re-started. For what spiritual or didactic reason(s)? I sincerely don’t know. And still don’t.

Did CITH in practice get going in most parishes, outside the countries above, when the more progressive or liturgically-fashion-conscious parishioners started putting their hands out at Communion? Hard to imagine a priest or Bishop announcing that it was going to be done and explaining why.

Anyone’s acutal memories would be good, here. How did it start in your diocese? I didn’t go to Mass for twenty years, except maybe at Christmas. Noted CITH and altar girls, but didn’t see them make their debut.

Someone made a good point earlier on. Ockham and others have given many links and quotes as to why CITH should not be done. There seem to be very few offered for it, beyond St. Cyril and the GIRM.

You’d think more clergy would defend why it should be done. It’s a big change from the past.

And I wonder which St. Cyril would choose, if he were a Roman Catholic bishop in the 1980’s., if he could, between retaining COTT, kneeling, from his hand or changing to CITH, standing, from a laywoman’s hands?
ewtn.com/expert/answers/communion_in_hand.htm

Whatever your opinion may be, or the origins of the practice, it most definitely APPROVED I’ve offered this link before, but surprisingly it hasn’t been commented on much by the anti-CITH group. I can only guess that’s because it demonstrates the Church’s clear approval of the practice. While the documents referenced express some concerns, the Church clearly passed on the opportunity to abolish the practice, in favor of approving the indult. The operative phrase being "approve."
Sure. And could you give his/their reasons for such? I sincerely wish to know the reasoning - the benefits it gives, or the deficits it remedies.
Does your lack of knowledge for the Bishop’s reasoning somehow weaken the legitimacy of the practice?

You keep demanding answers, but I think you are asking the wrong question. Rather than ask why the Church allows the practice, maybe you should ask yourself why you have such difficulty accepting the practice in light of the clear, unequivocal ecclesiastical approval over the past 40 years.

You’ve offered scores of posts supporting your position why you think CITH is wrong, but in the final analysis, that’s little more than your own opinion. Your opinion stands in stark contrast to the well-promulgated opinion of the Congregation of Divine Worship and numerous Bishops around the world.

And you know better then all those men because…???

=diggerdomer-I am not sure if I agree. As a minister of communion, isn’t it easier to ensure you don’t contact someone’s hand than that you don’t inadvertently contact someone’s tongue or lips? By the way, the host does not come from the chalice. The chalice/cup contains the Precious Blood. Let’s be realistic, I think it’s much easier to ensure there’s no physical contact when you’re placing the bread/host in a hand rather than in someone’s mouth. Thoughts?
I’ve heard this too but I wonder if it’s valid. I just today heard out bishop supports not offering the cup, which leads me to believe that there must be some flu-related reason for this, despite the wiping of the cup that is the norm. Do others have any evidence that wiping the cup is a safeguard against the flu? From what I’ve seen this seems to be an urban legend or otherwise dubious claim. Thanks.
While cupable ignorance applies to many in the pews, I suspect it applies FAR LESS as an Valid excuse for those on this Forum.

One should have NO reguard for what one perceives to be “easier or better.” That’s “human-speak” not God inspired. Not worthy of discussion.

Receiving Jesus on One’s Tongue remains the Universal NORMAL way to receive Christ in the worldwide Catholic Church, of which I hasten to point out, that at least for the time being, we are still members of:thumbsup:

Taking Jesus; the God who Created you into your hands lessens signifiantly, the level of piety, and ia TAKING NOT RECEIVING JESUS!

May I humbly suggest that those who do so show little reguard to the Person of Jesus Christ, when they do so ONLY by there personal option, knowing full well that there is a more PROFOUND WAY.

In my opinion THEE most profound words in the entire Bible are what we all [God, please let it be so] pronounce just before we receive OUR GOD!

***"Oh Lord I am NOT WORTHY to Receive you; say but the word and I shall be healed!

Why friends, do you think we pray that? Simply because it sounds nice:shrug:

It is Jesus Christ Himself in Person and you feel worthy of touching Him? What a disreguard for God Himself!*

Dear God help us,

Love and prayers,**

Problem is those words arent in the bible-in fact in a year or so we will be changng the words we say at Mass to agree with what is says in Scripture.

"Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I* am not worthy to have you** enter under my roof. 4 *
*7 **Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; **but say the word and let my servant be healed. ***
