Don’t mean to be rude but I would like to point out recent mistakes by famous radio preachers…
  1. John MacArther was preching on Monday, June 26 about bad, modern “feminist”. He said they ignore their God, husband and children. He gave an example that instead of cooking " they call out for DOMINOS pizza". This is an deliberate insult to a legitimate business simply because the owner of Dominos Pizza is a well known Catholic. Pizza Hut has many more outlets and much greater name recognition. Why did he associate a particular brand name with bad feminism? Because he indulges in “dirty tricks”, just like Richard Nixon.
  2. D.James Kennedy said if he could only have one book of the Bible on a deserted island, he would choose the book of Romans. Whatever happended to the Gospel of Jesus Christ? All the Bible is inspired but the Gospels are the heart and soul of the Bible, not the Book of Romans.
Just to let everyone know that these preachers are often wrong.

okay, i think we need to learn that not everyone is out to get us. i highly doubt he even thought about domino’s being owned by a catholic. in fact, in the 80’s (which is the decade i believe he would be most familiar with), domino’s reigned supreme when it came to pizza delivery. stop taking everything so personal. most protestants don’t really give a second thought to catholicism and if they do…it is just that, a second thought.

i’m not sure how favoring the book of Romans makes a man wrong. if that’s all you’ve got on mr. kennedy, then you need to do more homework. yes, the gospels are the story of Christ, but Romans is widely considered (at least by protestants) to be an amazing outline of the Christian faith. that’s probably why he chose that book.

Get a life.

Peace be with you!

That’s kind of funny that he associates ordering food with feminism. What kind of an idiot is this guy? If a woman decides to take one night to order food for her family rather than cook for them that automatically makes her a “bad feminist”? This guy can’t possibly be married…and if he is I feel very sorry for his wife.
I don’t think that Domino’s thing was meant to be against Catholics, though; it was probably just the first thing that came to his mind. Stupid, yes, but anti-Catholic? Most likely not.

Maybe we should complain about the modern form of “evangelism” since this preacher is too lazy to “go out and preach the gospel” in churches and revivals all across the country, and preaches from the radio pulpit instead!!!😃

Kinda like all those Popes that used to just sit around the Vatican?

Don’t throw rocks in a glass house - or grand palace.

Hum??? What was that saying I heard somewhere. Don’t worry about the toothpick in your buddies eye, worry about the tree in your own? Something like that?:hmmm: Boy, if they allowed us Catholics to read Scripture I bet I could even find a verse?😉

Far be it from me to defend John MacArthur, who is a notorious anti-Catholic who regularly hosts anti-Catholic groups (like “Missions to Catholics”) at his mega-campus in California. He has written forewords for blatantly anti-Catholic books and fills his pews with ex-Catholics (several of whom I know) who get sucked in by his genial style, slick preaching, and misinformation about Catholicism.

Having said that, in this case I don’t think he is purposely singling out Dominoes as a Catholic business that undermines the family. When I think of take-out pizza, Dominoes is one of the first ones I think of, too.

Not only ex-Catholics, but also a lot of practicing Catholics like to listen to MacArthur because he is so helpful and knowledgable in the Scriptures. I don’t like his style, but many do. That’s why he’s at the top of his field. He doesn’t promise “health & wealth,” he just teaches. Folks respond.

The book of Romans is highly prized because it is the most systematic and complete presentation of God’s plan of salvation from the creation of the world to the consummation of all things.

I often disagree with things that I hear preached on the radio, but these items seem okay to me.

neither of these preachers was making doctrinal statements, so the question of right or wrong does not arise. They were giving opinions. I am sure the first speaker could have said “Little Caesars” or “send out for Chinese” or “drive-thru at McDonalds” he just said the first fast food that came to his mind to make his point.

the second speaker was speaking about a personal preference for a book of the bible that has special meaning for him. presumably as someone who has studied scripture he is fully grounded in the gospel and immersed in its message, and means he would now like to plum the depths of the Paul’s letters more fully. One’s opinions on points of personal preference are neither right nor wrong, although one may state an erroneous opinion on points of doctrinal, scientific or other truths.

Friend,
You are assuming things that you have no way of knowing about.

MacArthur isn’t targeting Domino’s because it’s owned by a Catholic. Who in the world knows this information anyway? I certainly didn’t know that.

D. James has a preference for Romans. So what? Romans is one of the my favorites. The gospel is clearly spelled out all through it. The Gospel begins in Genesis and continues through Revelation. It’s not in M, M, L and J exclusively.

These “preachers”, both of whom are highly educated and spent untold years studying Scripture and theology are most often right and have better things to do than sneaking around getting top secret information and seeking to destroy the gospel.

MacArthur certainly had more to say than what you have shared. How about giving us the whole sermon, not 5 seconds of it.

Peace…

Before everybody starts slamming him, why don’t we get some real info on him - what a concept!!!

*Here’s some info on MacArthur from his ministry website at *www.gty.org

John came to Grace Community Church in 1969, after graduating with honors from Talbot Theological Seminary. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is the careful study and verse-by-verse exposition of the Bible, with special attention devoted to the historical and grammatical background behind each passage. Under John’s leadership, Grace Community Church’s two morning worship services fill the 3,500-seat auditorium to capacity. Several thousand members also participate each week in dozens of fellowship groups and training programs, most led by lay leaders and each dedicated to equipping members for ministry on local, national, and international levels.
*The Presidency
In 1985, John became president of The Master’s College (formerly Los Angeles Baptist College), an accredited, four-year, liberal arts Christian college in Santa Clarita, California. In 1986, John founded The Master’s Seminary, a graduate school dedicated to training men for full-time pastoral roles and missionary work.

The Personal Side
John and his wife, Patricia, live in Southern California and have four grown children: Matt, Marcy, Mark, and Melinda. He and Patricia enjoy the enthusiastic company of thirteen grandchildren. In addition to being a voracious reader, John enjoys golf and time with family.*

I’ve never heard one slanderous accusation against either of these two great men of God. They have devoted their lives to Christian ministry. That can’t be said for many so called “men of God”, protestant and Cathoiic. Go after someone who deserves your pointless rhetoric.

I don’t know if my post #7 was included in this suggestion, but I stand by what I said about MacArthur being a noted anti-Catholic. Despite his many fine qualities as a preacher and a pastor (or as a person, for all I know) it is indisputable that he he expends an inordinate amount of energy and resources in attacking the Catholic Church, facilitating those who do, and reaping the harvest of those he misleads out of the Church.

I am not speaking from hearsay but by direct experience; I lived many years in the vicinity of Grace Community, have read his materials and listened to his tapes (his anti-Catholicism is toned down for his radio audience) and talked to many ex-Catholics who have bought into his caricature of Church teaching and joined his church (most of these by the way, started out as uninformed Catholics who thought it would do no harm to listen to his broadcasts).

I have no quible with those who preach the gospel to the best of their understanding to bring others to Christ. May God bless them, Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant alike. I do, however, have heartburn with those who target uninformed Catholics and misrepresent Church teaching to fill their pews.

No, I had no problem with your post. I haven’t seen or heard any anti-Catholic stuff, but if you have - then obviously it’s there. That is unfortunate. If I were Catholic and someone attacked my Church, then I would be upset too. I saw some posts that were just in outer space that it reminded me of a sci-fi movie.

Peace…

Well-balanced Kevan.

I have listened to MacArthur in the past and still do occasionally. I’m not in agreement with his theology (5-point Calvinism), but I do appreciate the effort he takes in his exegesis.

I can only remember one time though where he made what I would consider an “anti-Catholic” statement, but I would be less sensitive to that than most of people on these forums.

Peace
