Thanks. I used yellow bell peppers. I guess any type would work.
I’m sure any color would work, but they all have a slightly different taste, don’t you think? My mother always preferred the green, especially when she stuffed them, whereas I greatly prefer the orange or red.

Other peppers would no doubt work, e.g., jalapenos, etc. Just be careful if cooking with ghost peppers. They can even burn your hands!

It sounds delicious!

It is very good, Lily, and very healthy. I like spinach and kale both, but this tastes more like the almond butter. You can also taste the raspberries, banana, and oats. I often have it for breakfast. The ginger can be omitted if you like, and a few almonds can even be added.

I posted this one for you, knowing you’re going to be on liquids. If you’re allowed, you can get a lot of fruits and veggies in smoothies. I get a lot of mine that way. 🙂

I’m definitely going to ask him about it. Smoothies would help me not miss solid food so much. I am a smoothie addict.

In the beginning, I probably won’t be able to do anything other than broth and juice because I’ll be too swollen. (Like the Goodyear Blimp was the description given.) But as the swelling decreases, I want to add smoothies and milkshakes to my beverages. And then Jello and solid ice cream until I can swallow my fruits and veggies again.

Sadly, I can’t eat the green ones. Those and raw onions cause me terrible stomach pains.

I can understand. I have some food issues, too. Allergic to shellfish, and sugar alcohols upset my stomach greatly.

You can thin smoothies down a bit with water, coconut water, or almond or coconut milk and still retain taste. That might help till you get over some swelling. (Sounds very uncomfortable! I hope it’s not.)

Surgery is definitely August 7. 8am Central. I have to be there at 6am.

Yes, I would have to thin the smoothies.

Lilypadrees, I will day a prayer for you that morning. I set a reminder on my phone. 🙂

Last time I got stuck on liquids, I made chicken soup with soy sauce, fish sauce, white pepper and a little cornstarch so I could at least have a little (very little) taste of oriental food.

Sweet Green Immunity Smoothie

1 cup roughly chopped spinach and kale, packed tightly
1½ cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
1½ cups frozen mix of mango, pineapple, and kiwi chunks (I swap orange for the kiwi or mango)
1/2-1 carrot
1/2 lemon, juiced
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
Pinch of cayenne pepper (Optional)

Instructions

Add the spinach and kale to a blender with the Almond Milk and blend well.

Add the frozen fruit, ginger and lemon and blend until smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • If using fresh fruit instead of frozen, reduce the almond milk amount to 1 cup and slowly add more to make your preferred thickness. Or, add 3-4 ice cubes before blending.

Yum! I love my greens.
I do, too, Lily. I know a lot of people who don’t like them, though. I especially like kale.
I’m getting ready to plant kale. Chicky Roo and I love it.

I think that it’s good just plain, meaning that I like it mixed in with other salad greens. It makes a nice change when added in with them. 🙂

I love greens, except Brussels Sprouts, and just planted my fall veggies.
I like Swiss Chard a lot, and it is also a beautiful plant as well.

I was thinking about your post where you said that you didn’t like Brussels Sprouts. I don’t like Cauliflower. I just never did, even when younger, and I don’t care for it now. I don’t like it raw, and I don’t like it cooked. I’ve tried it countless times, and it doesn’t matter. I just cannot acquire a taste for it, no matter how it’s prepared or how I season it. It’s just “blech” to me. LOL!! 😁

I apologize to those who are Cauliflower-lovers. 😫 😳
