There are so many complaints here and so little gratitude for the work of priests .

We are so fortunate to have priests here; so many opportunities to pray Mass, so much grace available.

It seems that so few of you understand that all the mistakes in the world are eclipsed by the grace of a single Mass. But if you set up yourself as a critic , outside the Mass, you risk setting yourself apart from these abundant graces.

We will all do well to remmber that Mass is not celebrated to please us, but to please the Father. If parts of it are difficult for you, be glad to suffer with the Son in this tiny, tiny way. Remeber too, that there is much that is beautiful to the Father that we do not recognise as beautiful and glorious.

And if you are forever critical of priests, you discourage them. And you discourage others from following them into priestly vocations.

If you have not been called to a priestly vocation, do not harm the practice of those who have been. We are the sheep, not the shepherd’s overseer. The overseer of the shepherd is the bishop

VERY TRUE!!! I’m with ya for the most part. I would like to say though, that it is important that when there is a liturgical abuse that someone points it out. In fact, it is our obligation as lay Catholics to politely inform the priest when a liturgical abuse is happening. However, it seems not many here are ranting about actual liturgical abuses, but about their personal preference for how the Mass should be celebrated.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is indeed that important. That’s precisely why we need to do everything in our power to drive abuse from the Mass…

before you go running to the bishop with your complaints and ask to have your priest removed, better look around, there may not be another priest available to replace him, and you will join the growing ranks of priest-less parishes (which are the first to be closed in a budget-crunch).
