I don’t know for sure but recollection means remembering the past… so is it to with with an examination of conscious or something or confession?

I’m not sure though because I’ve never heard of what you mean,

From the Catholic Encyclopedia
Recollection, as understood in respect to the spiritual life, means attention to the presence of God in the soul. It includes the withdrawal of the mind from external and earthly affairs in order to attend to God and Divine things. It is the same as interior solitude in which the soul is alone with God.

This recollection is twofold:
Active recollection may be acquired by our own efforts aided by the ordinary grace of God. Thus any devout soul can acquire the habit of thinking of God’s presence and of fixing attention upon Him and his Divine perfections.

Passive recollection does not depend upon our own efforts, but is an extraordinary grace infused by God, by which He summons together the faculties of the soul and manifests His presence and His perfections; this kind of recollection is classed by mystical writers as the first degree of infused contemplation.

It is simple focussed prayer,

A dear Poor Clare used to share with me that she found sewing/embroidery perfect for recollection.

Eyes focussed, hands busy, mind free… outside world cut off , the veil helps then of course,

At quiet times at the market stall, this is perfect, knitting, and I startle when someone asks for something as so totally recollected

What is recollection? Or the prayer of recollection?
Modern Catholic Dictionary:

RECOLLECTION. Concentration of soul on the presence of God. It calls for considerable mental discipline to avoid dissipation of mind, but is required of all who aspire after Christian perfection.
