Recommend a good parish in San Antonio?

Looking for a good parish in San Antonio, on the NE side if possible since I use the bus for transportation. Would love one with a really good confessor too.

I’m in a wheelchair too, so it needs to be handicapped accessible. I also have a nearly 2yo, so kid friendly is good too. She’s very spirited and has never been to mass before, so this should be interesting.

Close by I have St. Thomas More, St Monica, and St. John Neumann. Of course I can also get to San Fernando as well pretty easy.

I honestly can’t answer your question but a priest who graduated from my high school is going to be the new pastor at the Jesuit Parish Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in San Antonio. He’s here visiting family and celebrated Mass at my Parish last weekend. He’s really a good priest.

Other than that, i know nothing. Sorry.

I don’t know what part of town the Anglican Use parish of Our Lady of the Atonement is, but you might consider that.

It’s a BEAUTIFUL and very traditional church.

Close by I have St. Thomas More Has a school, an outreach to the elderly and disabled, and looks pretty flat from the photo. St Monica Is really in Converse, and hard to access unless VIA has improved. and St. John Neumann Used to be pretty good people, also flat, also has early childhood program in addtion to regular school. Of course I can also get to San Fernando as well pretty easy.

it’s a toss up for me - st monicas and st john neumann are both on the same easy access bus route for me.

Went to st john neumann tonight - they seemed pretty good and the new priest there is okay. I saw many receiving on the tongue, and several women wearing veils. But you’re right - it did seem flat.

I’m going to give st monicas a try too and see which one I like better.

I’m still on the lookout for a really good confessor in san antonio - again NE or downtown would be great but since it’s not quite as often for that I can travel as long as it’s on a bus route.

Are you looking more Ordinary Form (English or Spanish, priest faces the people, no veils) or Extraordinary Form (Latin, veils, etc.)?

I’m more familiar with the south side parishes than the north, even though I lived in NEISD. Another good, flat, caring parish with very caring priests is St. Leonard on Zarzamora. I guarantee it’s flat, too, not a lot of bumps and steps. St. Helena’s is flat, too, close to you, but it is on Edgemont.

If you are looking for a good confessor/ spiritual director, try the OMI shrine on Blanco just off Jackson-Keller.

i’m actually looking for something between the two - I’ve never even seen a latin mass, and I’m rusty enough with the ordinary form that even it confuses me now. I would like somewhere where more traditional things like veils, communion on the tongue, etc are normal though - so kinda a mix of old and new.

I’ll try the OMI shrine for my next confession - I was debating going to the cathedral for that but I’ll try the shrine first. I’d love to find an opus dei priest as I’m told they tend to be good confessors.

Furthermore, from what I was told at the Pelican Bookstore (off Bandera Road) that Mother Angelica’s community was going to set up shop there.In fact, there are five of her nuns who will be at the parish.
