If you like sci-fi, I’m really enjoying The Expanse series by Daniel Abraham. I’m less of a fan of the recent tv show. The setting in the series is really interesting and elaborate and there’s a lot of mystery and suspense.

If you want something that’s less fanciful, I just finished Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by Caitlyn Doughty, which is about her work at a crematory, death customs around the world, and the funeral industry in the US. I find her work fascinating and her treatment of the subject is both humorous and sincere. She’s an atheist herself, but she shows a lot of respect for religious perspectives on death and the afterlife.

I’m reading The Cardinal by Henry Morton Robinson, an old but splendid book, the story of a workingman’s life from priesthood to becoming a cardinal.
A great writer is Michael O’Brien, whose Father Elijah is a religio-political-scifi thriller, about a priest sent to remonstrate with the Antichrist.

My reading list is now a mile long. Funny thing though. Last week “A Passage to India” was on tv and I recorded it. So I started the novel. I have been watching a bit and reading bit comparing the two. But now I am almost finished.

Thanks for all the referrals.

I just started the novel version of “The Shape of Water”.

So that would have to be based on the movie rather than vise versa because there was no original novel, right?

Everything you wanted to know about Intimidation but were too afraid to Ask.
