I am getting into the chants and I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or recommendations. I would like to play them in the car to relax me and help me from committing some sin towards some inconsiderate driver(s).

I would like to get some suggestions on this too. There are a gazillion different albums out there. Anyone have some really good ones that they enjoy for scripture reading, meditation, prayer, rosary time ect?

thanks 🙂

Will you accept recommendations from a religious Jew who has always loved classical music, incl. Gregorian chant?

For starters, try: St Benedict Gregorian Chant by the Monastic Choir of the Abbey of Notre Dame de Fontgombault

Gregorian Chant by the Choir of the Moine Et Moniales (Benedictine Abbey of Bec-Hellouin, Jerusalem)

Gregorian Chants by the Benedictine Monks of the Abbey Saint-Maurice and Saint-Maur of Clervaux

(I have a lot more, but those are good for starters.) If you’re interested, I also can recommend Russian Orthodox liturgical music, as well as traditional Jewish synagogue music (all of which is also beautiful and majestic.)

Of course!

👍

We may not worship together in the same house, but we can certainly sit together in the same opera house.

Hymns
Beth Nielsen Chapman
👍

Salve regina
Panis angelicus (plainchant vesion not Frank)
Ave verum corpus (Mozart)
Tantum ergo
Adoramus Te
O Salutoris Hostia
etc

12 tracks 35 minutes of pure heaven!
One of my most played CDs ever!

I’d suggest:
Gregorian chant by St Dominic’s Priory Choir
Gregorian chant by The Monks & Choir Boys of Downside Abbey

… and most of the Dominican preformances. 🙂

Anything by the Monastic Choir of St. Peter’s Abbey, Solesmes.

I Suggest their Gregorian Anthology which has 26 selections which follow the rhythm of the liturgical year. The CD I have of them was distributed by Paraclete Press.

Thank you for mentioning this one, I agree, it is excellent!
