In addition to what other posters have stated regarding the Precept of the Church, in cases of mortal sin etc. and taking into account those who suffer from scrupulosity (who should obey their confessors instruction regarding frequency of confession) - I have found the confession of venial sins beneficial.

Frequent Confession It mentions 8 benefits of frequent confession.

I’ve even gone to confession more than once in a span of a few days if mortal sin is involved.

I go once per month, at least, to fulfill the First Saturday devotion to Our Lady.

I go once a month, unless I fall before then. Keep in mind that confession isn’t just there to wipe the slate when you commit mortal sins, it can help with venial sins and imperfections too. I can attest to this. If I’m having issues with a particular sin, I confess it, and typically come out of it with the grace to overcome that sin. The goal is to overcome imperfections and attain perfection, not just tread water in the spiritual life.

It depends. If you struggle with a serious sin, you should probably go often.

A Catholic who is not struggling with a very serious habitual sin should go regularly, but not too frequently — every few weeks or so (although they can decide how frequent is best for them—weekly, bi-weekly, monthly etc). Even if one is not in mortal sin, the graces of the Sacrament are of great benefit (and Confession is a great weapon against mortal sins). Plus examining your conscience and finding the smaller sins you commit regularly will help you overcome many other faults.

If you struggle with scrupulosity, on the other hand, your confessor (and you should only have one, only one) should set limits on how often you are to go to confession so you do not confess compulsively, which will make your scrupulosity worse.

I would say three to four weeks, unless you commit a mortal sin.
At my parish, we only have one priest.
So I said, give the priest a break.
Sometimes priests are very busy with other things.
If you do not need to go to confession for a mortal sin, then hold off for a one or two,

Yes like the others say I think it’s a personal thing. Unless in mortal sin go whenever you get that urge. I tend to go monthly or thereabouts as a devotional confession. I liked what Tis said comparing it to a dentist visit vs cleaning your teeth. That’s true. I seldom feel distressed about going any more as it’s a regular thing. I see my usual parish priest unless another priest is covering which happens sometimes and doesnt bother me at all. My fav confessor is one priest who stays in our parish over summer, a visitor from Poland. He is very good at spiritual advice.

At most times I don´t feel like going unless I´m concerned that a certain sin is serious matter. I try to go when staying at youth arrangements and retreats where it´s offered.
As a convert I need to establish these good habits myself. Every month seems pretty good for me. It´s often, but not too often.
