Am looking for suggestions for scripture reading(s) for a memorial service for a non-catholic friend. No minister or priest involved but would like to read appropriate scripture as we remember this loved one.

Can you recommend any particular passages or perhaps a web site that would have suggested readings. I tried the small library in the back of our church but I could find no suggestions.

Maybe Psalm 23?

Here are some scripture readings to consider:

John 14:1-6
Do not let your hearts be troubled.

Revelation 21:1-5a, 6b-7
I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Psalm 25
Remember that your compassion, O Lord…

Psalm 23:
The Lord is my shepherd.

The scripture readings listed below are from The Order of Christian Funerals (The Rites of the Catholic Church Volume I):

Job 19:1, 23-27
I know that my Redeemer lives.

Isaiah 25:6A, 7-9
The Lord God will destroy death for ever.

Acts of the Apostles 10:34-43 (longer) or 10:34-36, 42-43 (shorter)
God has appointed Jesus to judge everyone, alive and dead.

Romans 14:7-9, 10b-12
Whether alive or dead, we belong to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:51-57
Death is swallowed up in victory.

2 Corinthians 5:1, 6-10
We have an everlasting home in heaven.

2 Timothy 2:8-13
If we have died with him, we shall live with him.

1 John 3:1-2
We shall see God as he really is.

Revelation 14:13
Happy are those who die in the Lord.
