Hello CAF! Long-time on/off listener to the radio program. I have only lurked here for a short time.

I’m a Reformed Protestant and have studied and have had personal experience with the RCC, EO, Anglican, and Lutheran traditions. Either on my own or via close friends. I have long had sympathies with the Catholic Church and never been one to hate the church or her members as some protestants.

I recently acquired “Making Sense of Mary” by Gary G. Michuta from Amazon Kindle Unlimited. Any other recommendations? I’m ok with Mary as the Mother of God and frankly have never had a problem with this. Nor do I have a problem “flirting” with the remaining three dogmas. I guess it’s the idea of the Church binding the conscience (requiring?) of its members in what seems like a similar fashion to belief in something like the doctrine of the Trinity.

This is not my only hang-up with the Catholic Church, 🙂 but it’s where I’m at right now. I do have a copy of the Catechism and stopped reading it a few months ago. I tend to go in a back and forth struggle with being drawn towards the Church then pushing it away…for a looong time.

I would appreciate anything else ya’ll could share. Preferrably from a “hey I know some protestants were helped by this” or “I am a convert and this really helped me” sort of way.

Thanks!

“Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary” by Dr Brant Pitre.

I hope you continue on this Faith journey and make it Home! Will pray!

What is binding is that which has been determoned to have been revealed by God. I suppose the main hurdle is accepting that it was revealed. Not a book, but an 11 minute YouTube video.

True devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary by st. Louis de Montfort:
I say this with all respect and gentleness, but Montfort’s arcane style and flowery use of language might be a little advanced at this stage of the Op’s inquiry. I would reserve his works until one had a deeper devotion to our Blessed Mother.

@humbleseeker yap, understand what you are saying. I thought it would be good for start because this was the first book about Mary I read while converting and is still the best to me even though I read many other marian books later.
