I am looking for a good exposition of the Roman Catholic understanding of the “catholic and apostolic” section of the Nicene Creed. I looked up Pope Benedict’s Introduction to Christianity, but saw that b/c it was of the Apostle’s creed, he only had the word “catholic” to deal with and spent only a few pages on it (“apostolic” apparently not being in the Apostle’s Creed, I suppose).
I looked up the newer catechism but didn’t as much detail as I was hoping to find. Is there another text that would explain these two concepts from a Roman Catholic point of view–or is Ratzinger’s several pages so helpful that I should still buy the book?
