A person with imperfect contrition can still ask for forgivness, and be forgiven just as s/he would at Confession, although without the grace, right?

Not sure what you are asking…

Reconcilliation IS a Sacrament, therefore it bestows Grace upon the recipient.

A person with imperfect contrition may not recieve the full Grace of the Sacrament.

The same person can still go to Confession, but if they were not contrite- why would they ask for forgiveness?

I’m saying, does a person who prays for forgiveness with imperfect contrition still get forgiveness for mortal sins?

Perfect Contrition would be sorrow based on love. One feels sorrow for the sin because it hurts God, and we do not wish to hurt God.

Imperfect Contrition would be sorrow or partial sorrow based on anything else (ie fear, coersion, etc.)

No sin is forgiven by God unless there is true sorrow for it (even imperfect sorrow, such as fear of divine punishment) and a firm resolution not to commit it again.
