Looking in canon law, which is much clearer…

On use of individual confession**Can. 960 Individual and integral confession and absolution constitute the only ordinary means by which a member of the faithful conscious of grave sin is reconciled with God and the Church. **Only physical or moral impossibility excuses from confession of this type; in such a case reconciliation can be obtained by other means.
vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__P3F.HTMOn what is to be confessed:
Can. 989 After having reached the age of discretion, each member of the faithful is ob-liged to confess faithfully his or her grave sins at least once a year.

Yeah, that’s what she disagrees with. Thank you for sharing that, I do appreciate it. Which…people disagree with things, what can you do?

If I disagreed with enough things, I wouldn’t see a point in being Catholic. Perhaps I would be Muslim or Hindu. Or possibly Jewish. Kind of hard where I live, I would have to move. More likely that I would choose to be an atheist.

You might point out that the items I cited are from the Vatican web site… point her to the truth of the church. Then, if she still persists in spouting heresy, suggest one of the vagante groups, where, at least, she will be with people who believe as her.

I agree with both her and you.
These things that you tend to call heresy are things that I do believe and that was reason enough for me to formally defect from the Catholic Faith and the Catholic Church. I would have considered anything else hypocrisy on my part.
I could either believe the teachings of the Catholic Church and not question that which is taught (or at least give my best to try and get there and not proclaim teachings that go against the teachings of the Church) or not call myself a Catholic and leave.
