What does everyone think about this list of Mortal Sins.
.
I. Missing Mass on Sunday or Holydays of Obligation.
  1. Eating meat on Friday(or days perscribed by the Church) and other forbidden days.
  2. Any sins against chastity; that is any use of the sex passion outside of marriage: adultery .fornication. masturbation. impure use of the eyes, impure dancing. petting. necking; even serious kissing is a mortal sin; impure or unchaste thoughts or desires deliberately entertained; sins against nature, such as homosexuality.
  3. Gambling away the family money
  4. Stealing an expensive article.
  5. Unnecessary manual work and/or shopping on Sunday.
  6. Murder, or any other unjust killing or harming another.
  7. Birth control of any form. For example: abortion, the use of condoms or other birth preventative devices, use of “the pill.”
Too strict? To lenient? In line with Church teaching? Too far out?

Eating meat on Fridays is not a mortal sin. You are required to do some form of penance on Fridays but you are free to choose what to do. I happen to not eat meat because its the easiest for me to remember.

too incomplete and unfocussed. start with the 10 commandments and beatitudes and go from there. or better yet, do a search because this topic has been covered frequently, and the threads have many great links. search on examination of conscience as well as mortal sin.

The Church used to have a pamphlet called “How to Make a Good Confession” which was very useful. It expanded on each of the 10 Commandments. Maybe that pamphlet still exists. Does anyone know?

This is just like the pamphlet that I was referring to.
Thank you so much 👋
I find it very handy and use it for my daily examination of conscience.

Exactly in line with Church teaching as far as the list goes, but of course there are more sins. As addressed above, these are sins of commission, versus the sins of ommision such as not giving to charitable organizations, or helping the poor amongst many more.
