Hi everybody,
I’m wondering – do other churches have confession/reconciliation? How similar to the Catholic Church are they?

God bless
Sarah

I think the Orthodox have Confession.

And the Lutherans and Anglicans/Episcopalians may, but they don’t have Apostolic Succession, so it doesn’t “count.”

I believe both Anglicans and Lutherans have private confessions, I believe the rite is not dissimilar to the Catholic one and they too have a seal of confession.

I think I should have posted this in a different section! I will re-post in Non-Catholic Religions. Thank you both for your responses!!

Take care, God bless
Sarah

I spoke with an Armenian Orthodox priest and he said they do not have individual confession.

I read at one time that the Episcopal/Anglican church has reconciliation as a sacrament but it isn’t required - just an option if one wants to take advantage of it.
