What happen if I intentionally omit a sin during confession? Are the sins that I already confessed forgiven?

Basically – yes if say I commit murder and go to confession and I confess other mortal sins and intentionally hide the murder…well I would need to confess all the mortal sins again. And the one hidden…and the hiding. (no sins were absolved due to my hiding of the murder…)
Such is a different matter if I forget it but intended to confess all my mortal sins and had contrition etc (and there could be some other possible potential reasons to omit a particular mortal sin…but the norm is one is not to omit such).
One may omit venial sins (for one is not obliged to confess venial sins…)
(also note that those out there who are scrupulous or struggle with scruples --they can be in a different boat…they ought to discuss things with their regular confessor…for some can have all sorts of unfounded fears).

You are required to, absolutely required to, confess all mortal sins in kind and number. If you cannot remember the number, then guess. If you do not confess all mortal sins, your absolution is utterly invalid and you commit another mortal sin by doing so.

It’s interesting because deliberately withholding a mortal sin in confession is in itself a sin! Oh what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deny the severity of our actions.

why go to confession if you not going to be honest?
Accidental or too many to name in small incidences is different, they are forgiven and I would imagine that actually, as soon as you are sorry then God forgives the big sins too.
as we all know the priest cannot break the seal of confession if you admitt to murder but he can and probably will encourage you to come clean yourself.
But to deliberately avoid a ‘big’ sin when you have chosen to go to confession seems odd. Being too nervous to say it by the way is different from deliberately not saying it.
God is a loving God and loves you and wants you to be free. Free of sin. Confession is a way of being free of sin.
I wonder how many people do have to work at being sorry for something especially if they think they are in the right. Its a lifelong process and pride gets in our way.
